That was a great book! I read it back when I was teaching grades 4, 5 and 6.

I want to read it - I think it would be helpful since I teach 6th graders.

I read Chevy Stevens' first one, Still Missing, and it was intriguing, but had some disturbing parts. Not sure if I'd recommend it. But the author's style is really good, and she really draws you into the story. I think it was just the subject matter I had a hard time with. The fact that I still finished it says something. And this one looks really good. I've got it on hold at the library, but I think it's still on order, so I'm not sure when it will come in. But I do plan to read it as soon as I can!

As for Outlander - - YES you should read it! That series had me expressing surpriseout loud at times, which I don't think any other book has done, so you know it has to be good! Although, it gets mired down a bit by about the 5th book. The story is sooo worth it, but I found the 5th and 6th books had way too many details. My hubby, on hearing all my complaining, took to renaming "A Breath of Snow and Ashes" to "A Breath as Slow as A$$es"...lol. But the series is sooooo good, and the first four books were much easier than the last two. Tackle it!! You'll be glad you did!!!!

Speaking of tackling books, have you heard of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series? The first book is A Game of Thrones. I believe it's a TV series, but I've never seen it. The books are getting amazing reviews on goodreads, and my Goodreads group looooves them. Any chance you want to tackle those ones together? I've got the first one on hold at the library, but I'm #4 so it may be a while.

Back to the thread now, lol.

Q- Quilt (The) by Gary Paulsen

I actually started on Outlander, at the recommendation of my SIL and several friends, several years ago. I just didn't get very into it. Think it was the time I tried to start it, and didn't want to be invested in a series. It's sitting on my Kindle now, so will definitely read it.

I had never heard of those books, but have heard of the show, and heard good things about it. Will have to see if my library has them. If so, I'd definitely be interested in reading them with ya!

I'm going to jump into the game!

Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier

I've been wanting to read it again, so it's been on my mind actually.

Also, YES give the Outlander series another try. The later books definitely do slow down but are such great historical fiction.

My son has read The Game of Thrones and really likes it. He's not allowed to watch the show, though. It's one thing for a 16-year-old to read about sexuality, but I'm not ready for him to watch it!
