Anyone interested in reviving the monthly book club selection?
If so, are there any suggestions?
I'm suggesting The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. It has 4.5 star rating on Amazon and I've heard very good things about it, including from members here!![]()
I'll also throw out Midwives by Chris Bohjalian. I see many of you haven't read it, and it is one I'd love to read again!
I'd definitely be interested, but I'm not sure what has been done in the past. I'm afraid right now I'm only really into classics or kiddy books, but I think some kid books make great discussion (the little prince, winnie the pooh, the wind in the willows, peter pan, roal dahl...)
I read a book a while back, might have too religious a theme but I don't think so, called "pope joan"- about a female who impersonated a male and rose through the catholic church to become a pope in the middle ages (based on theoretically true events). It has some romance and wasn't too pro-or-anti religion, just anti-ignorance. I thought it would make a great discussion piece. Link to it here: http://www.popejoan.com/
I am up for anything, I am so far behind in my TBR list, I gave up. But I would love to try a book a month again here.
If there is interest I'd love to start it up again.
I'm currently reading The Book Thief, and it is super good. Would love to hear other suggestions.
I'd love to read The Book Thief again, so I'm game for that title for the first round!
Peace,
Julie
