I'm finished!!

To tell you the truth, I'm shocked. Stephenie said that there was NO WAY Bella could get pregnant in an interview last year.

I thought the book was a departure from the other three in style and substance. I had to look at the cover again at one point to make sure I was reading the actual book and not fan-fiction. It seemed to follow the plot of some of the fanfics I've read while waiting for the release date.

All in all, I'm trying to let it sink in. I'm thinking another read and a few days to mull it over should do it!

I was a bit surprised too. And Jacob imprinting on her.....that totally took me by surprise. I really confused for the first half of the book. I wasn't too sure if I liked it or not. I thought it was good, but it was not what I was expecting. The 2nd half was awesome though. I was really happy with the ending.

It reminded me of Harry Potter in a way. The last book in that series was sooooo jammed full of everything (trying to tie up loose ends) that it felt like a race to the finish.

I just finished reading it and am glad to have others to talk to about it. I was so in love with the first three that I feel a little let down with this one. I don't know that I was expecting or hoping for, but maybe the ending was just too perfect? I missed the conection of Bella and Edward that was so strong in the other books. I did like renesmee but was a little let down that the whole Bella/Jacob thing just stopped like that.

I absolutely loved every second of it! I never guessed one plot twist. I was so excited that Bella was able to get pregnant, as that is the one reservation that I had for her choosing Edward.

The whole imprinting thing threw me just a bit, then of course I understood why there was a bit more emphasis on the dynamics of the Quil/Claire relationship.

I'm so pleased with the conclusion. I like my all my "loose strings" tied up into nice neat bows though!!

I loved the book and cried some. I had thought that they would have a baby until I was told Stephenie said they could not because his fluid is all venomous thus the crotch venom theory. So I am disappointed that she would try to throw us by lying to us. But not disappointed in the book at all.

I completely understand and love the Jacob thing - but am sad for Leah. I want her to be able to imprint now.

It would be sad if this is where it all leaves off because there are so many other stories that can and should be told. This should not be the last. It would be horrible for it to be the last!

Hi! I'm new to this board, but thought I'd drop by...I absolutely loved this book Biggrin I kind of had a hint that there might be a baby. Stupid me looked at the back of the book before I even started it and saw the name Renesmee. I figured it was a baby, but I definately didn't see the imprint w/Jacob until farther into the book. I was happy w/the way things worked out, although I would have loved a fight between them w/the Volturi. I'm a little sad that it's over, but am looking forward to the movie Smile

Welcome! I was wanting a fight too! ROFL Man, I have turned morbid.

I can't believe it is over because I don't think things were all settled and finished. Maybe with Edward and Bella - but there is so many more that need closure. ;(

I am not completely sure about how I feel about the book. I liked it for the most part but I thought it was a bit rushed. Also I have to admit I was kind of dissapointed there wasn't a fight at all.
But at the same time I wasn't expecting the plot twist so I really enjoy that ..mmmm I think like Kelly I am just sad the series are over, first the HP series and now this one, it is nice to know what happened but I can of miss them.

There better be because that would be sad if there isn't. I did not find enough closure in this for her to say it is the last. (And I know she continues to write just for me.)

Hi! New here!

I just started reading the entire series on friday of last week, and finished BD last night around 11:00pm. (my butt will be dragging at work today but it is worth it!! LOL) I was pretty happy with it over-all, but I did miss the love that was always conveyed (sp) between B and E. In the 1st and second books it was like this FORCE, ya know? It made you feel all gooey. I really was pleased though that everyone got to live in their immortal happiness. Smile I wish I could find someone like Edward!! Darn fictional perfect men! LOL

I'm pretty sure she writes just for me -- sorry to burst any bubbles!

ROFL

Holly, Kris, and Christine - so glad to have you join us. Hope you'll join us for future book club selections as well!! I think our August pick is The Glass Castle (there's a sticky list with the selections.) We are a bit behind on our chat/discussion threads for the last couple of selections. (The Historian & Snow Angels)

Cindy -- I'm right there with you on feeling a bit sad for Leah (sp?). I did really feel like I understood her so much more with this book. She was a prominent figure for a bit (a ploy to hide the plot of the imprinting, I think), and then practically disappeared.

I can't wait to start them over on audio!

Doesn't it feel incomplete though? Like the story is just not done. Maybe for some characters - but not all of them. Even the way she ended with the Volturi like they were going to come back.

What did you all think of the half borns? I was sure that Caiaus was trying to destroy them because he was trying to hide his own little secret. Maybe he had created one in his past and did not want to let out his dirty secret. LOL

I felt like Bella and Edward's story was over, but as for Jacob, Volturi, half-breeds, and Leah's stories aren't over. I hope not anyways.

So looking back over our general reviews, it seems that overall most of us were pleased. My friends and family, in my non computer world, that have finished have also been pleased. I was browsing on Amazon yesterday, and looking at avatars and icons on other sites, and it seems that a great deal of people were not pleased. Some of the reviews were scathing at best.

Do you think that our place in life, planning families, being parents, made it something we could relate to better than our younger counterparts?

How much do you think Team (insert guy here) alliances had an impact on the reader's experience (pleased- disgruntled) with the book?

Would it have been better to leave some of the strings loose? For instance not have Jacob imprint on Renesmee, which could have opened up a great deal of scenarios, but most importantly would have impacted the encounter with the Volturi.

Just curious on your thoughts.

Maybe a bit of hope for future books involving characters from Twilight, straight from Stephenie!

MTV: Is it going to be hard to walk away from "Twilight"?
Meyer: I don't feel like I have yet. I'm still working with the Edward book, which keeps me in it. I know for absolute sure that this is the last time Bella's going to tell the story, but I don't know if I'll be able to leave all the characters behind. There are so many stories there. While I plan to do some other things first, I may come back to it.

I wasnt thrilled on the Jacob (Book 2) at first. Something about how he is portrayed made me not like him much and I was an avid Edward Fan when it came to the whole Bella chooses who?
As for the understanding why she chose to write from Jacobs ppoint of view made sense to me since Bella was out of it during that time of the Story. and using anyone else just wouldnt have made sense to the readers...IMO
I loved the outcome and was thrilled with Book 3 and I too wish that a bigger fight would have happened then there was. A war of words and minor attacks just didnt seem enough for a conclusion!
As for hoping on more? OH YES!!! I sure wish SM would write on the Renesmee & Jacob saga and the struggles of her being Half Vampire and him a Shapeshifter, and the Imprinting...what it does to their future. Maybe more on the Volturi's quest on half-breeds altogether?? hmmmm

Funny Blog -- This does contain spoilers, so do not read if you haven't finished the book.

Also it's in 3 parts -- like the 3 parts of the book.

I laughed out loud quite a few times. Does contain some profanity, so if that's not your thing beware. It's not an every word type thing, just here and there with her commentary.

I'm glad you ladies have enjoyed it. I've been reading some of her previous posts. I was just reading her New Moon re-cap now, and this girl is just genius. I love love love her humor. NM was my least fave of the series, so I can echo so much of her sentiment.

I read her first ones first. She just busted my gut!!! ROFL

So I went and listened to the playlists and I found a bunch that I liked. Never one for Korn... but hey, the others are pretty cool.

Of all of it, and there's so much that I love.

This is my very favorite statement!!!!!!

So... I finally read an e-book of Twilight last night, and... I kind of love it like cake. With rainbow sparkles sprinkles. Carried in by ponies. Pink ponies. If I had a hard copy, I would snuggle it...

she has some cute new icons on one of her newer posts.

I agree. The feeling was so strong for me thru the first 3, couldnt sleep, hardly ate. It was almost like i was living within Bella waiting for Edward waiting for it all. But book 4 was different. I still enjoyed the book, and was suprised by the twists, but it wasnt the same. I didnt feel the pull the pain the longing.

I completely agree with this. I loved the 4th one, but it didn't have the same relationship between Bella and Edward that the first 3 had. In the 2nd one, I was in pain as I read about Edward leaving, and Bella's pain trying to get through it. But in this one, everything shifted. In a way, it's understandable. As a first time mother myself, I know that your focus wains a bit from your husband more towards the baby. So, I can see how her interest was more focused on Renesemee. But, I did miss the pull between Edward and her.

I finally finished!!! woohoo!!!!! I love all the books. I burst out laughing when I read about Jacob imprinting...dh is SO sick of lme and these books lol. I'm trying to get him to dress up as Edward for halloween. Or anytime Wink

I completely agree with above. I love the books and also found it natural that the focus changes as she becomes a mom as we all go through that. But I was missing that longing and desire that there were during the first 3 books. I was okay with that but I was wondering as I was readin how teenagers felt about it as they are not moms yet and wouldn't really understand that change in focus. I could see how it could be disappointing.

But I loved it and I don't know what to do right now because I want MORE!!!!!!

I just finished it last night and couldn't put it down! I almost cried at parts! I wish it wasn't over. I'm so obsessed that I'm reading Midnight Sun on Stephenie's website.
