How many newborns?

Ok - be honest here. How many newborns have you created? Or where is your family tree going (twilight followers you have created?)

Well - I can name just a few here:

I sent a book to our Kelly who has gone obsessed (almost just as obsessed as I LOL)

I sent a book to my sister Ruby.

I gave another book to another friend Dawn.

I sent a book to mskoala Lisa and she tells me she loves it.

I have encouraged a few as well.

I to get the girls at the coffee shops to read it when I can.

I know that Kelly has spread it to her family and friends, and that my sister has spread it to others.

I am working on getting another friend - Carrie to read it.

So I am feeling like Esme here looking lovingly down on all my family of Twilight readers I have encouraged along. Smile

Please add your family tree or numbers. I am interested to see the fire spread through the dry grass....

I have encouraged almost everyone I know to read it, but specifically at least to:

Ryann, my BFF

Brandi, her roommate

Nicole, at work

Charity, at work

A bunch of gals on a Grey's bd. I frequent (about 8 ppl.)

My little brothers (mid/early teens)

DH even started reading it, but was turned off by the "girly" aspect

Oh, and I made and mailed some "Team Edward" shirts Smile

Well, I was created by Cindy Lol

I have since created or at least helped in the creation of

A Cousin

My Mother

A local friend

a friend from back home

My media specialist (who bought copies for our school library -- which will create countless newborns for years to come Wink ) *ETA -- I asked her about them the other day, all the books were checked out, by both girls and boys! She said one little fellow was reading them so quickly, within a couple of days time!!!)

MIL (who in turn made newborns of most of the ladies in her ward) & helped with
SIL1
SIL2
BIL's GF

I think that is all. I think we've sparked some interest on this board too, so maybe our love of the books here made a few newborns.

A Lady i work with
and my DH.

YES. Dh finished reading HP yesterday and decided to read Twilight to see if he could get my obsession. He told me last night after a few chapters he really loves the writing, and cant wait for more action. Even the mushy parts dont bug him that much.

My books are going to my MIL this week! One of the moms in my Eng Comp class was asking me what I was reading and I think she's going to buy the books. Then I'm saving them for Kailey and Ashlyn when they're older.

I finally figured out what this thread is about. I almost posted a picture of my DD as a newborn.

Don't send me a copy, please. I wouldn't read it. It's not my thing at all.

LOL...I'm just being honest! I really did almost post a pic of my kid...I couldn't figure out what y'all were talking about at first.

Plus, wouldn't you rather send one to someone who WOULD read it?

Oh hun! You so don't know until you actually have read it. Wink I have 3 newborns that have told me the very same thing and once they broke down... they could not stop.

You know the offer will stand. You say the word and I will be more than glad to send you a copy. Smile Mua - Haaaa! I want to be Head newborn creator or Top Cullin family builder! ROFL

Rachel, you are more than welcome to post a NB pic of your little one, anytime, we don't even have to have a thread going about Newborns (babies or vamps). Lol

I have a feeling Rachel won't be swayed, Cindy!

ROFL about the blinky, Cindy!
I need to link you to my teacher website. I had to create a character collage, as an example for my students. They are creating one for a character in The Lightning Thief. I wanted to use something different though, because I wanted to see their creativity, and not just a regurgitation of the one I made. I did mine on Edward Cullen, of course!!

Truth be told, I'm kinda "vamped" out in general - on all fronts. I was a huge vampire fan when I was younger, and I read everything that had to do with them. These days, I feel sort of like I've personally moved out of that phase. Also, the whole "vampire lover" section of the genre is one I can do without - I do like my vampires like the ones from "30 Days of Night" - evil ruthless killers...because that is what they are at their essence.

As far as Myers goes, I'm just not a fan of her writing. I've read excerpts (because I will not refuse to read a book unless I at least read excerpts), and she simply does not engage me. I'm a bit of a book snob, honestly. I have no problem admitting it.

Myers has one going for her - at least she isn't Laurell K. Hamilton. I got duped into into reading some of those, and that woman is a BAD writer in need of an editor who will stand up to her.

ok I have to admit I have heard this book was all the rave, but no nothing about it (except I think it has to do with Vampires). I am soo not into Vampires or that sort of thing, so not sure it would be my cup of tea. I obviously have not read it.

I liked BTVS, and that was pretty much the extent of my infatuation/interest with them. I LOVE these books though!!

This is from Amazon

*Starred Review* Gr. 9-12. In the tradition of Anne Rice and YA titles such as Annette Curtis Klause's The Silver Kiss (1999) comes this heady romance that intertwines Bella Swan's life with that of Edward, an alluring and tormented vampire. Bella's life changes when she moves to perpetually rain-soaked Forks, Washington. She is instantly drawn to a fellow student, Edward Cullen, beautiful beyond belief and angrily aloof. Bella senses there is more behind Edward's hostility, and in a plot that slowly and frighteningly unfolds, she learns that Edward and his family are vampires--though they do not hunt humans. Yet Edward cannot promise that his powerful attraction to Bella won't put in her in danger, or worse. Recklessly in love, Bella wants only to be with Edward, but when a vicious, blood-lusting predator complicates her world, Bella's peril is brutally revealed. This is a book of the senses: Edward is first attracted by Bella's scent; ironically, Bella is repelled when she sees blood. Their love is palpable, heightened by their touches, and teens will respond viscerally. There are some flaws here--a plot that could have been tightened, an overreliance on adjectives and adverbs to bolster dialogue--but this dark romance seeps into the soul. Ilene Cooper

It's YA, but as you can tell by my list of newborns, it appeals to a wide age range, middle school students to middle aged grandmothers, and some guys too! it's just an easy and entertaining read, and it really sparked my interest in reading again. I remember when I was reading Twilight, that I couldn't wait to get home to be able to read.

I have 2 stark against vampire book people who have read it and love the series!!! They are so glad we got them reading it. I think the thing to do is to read the first chapter or 2. You will know if it sucks you in by then or not. It is really an easy read - but more than that, she has a way with making you feel like you are walking in the characters shoes that I think is what appeals to so many.

I would have never read a vampire book.

I hate horror, scary, supernatural...anything like that. HATE it. dh and I have huge arguments when he tries to make me watch those horrible movies.

But Then I saw that my niece loves them and I know what she likes. So I decided to try them....and it all began lol

Give it a try. You'll be sucked in!!

thanks ladies I will. I have a bunch of things I am trying to tidy up here and get ready to transition to 1 job a day of 8.5 hours long, to 2 jobs totally 12 hours per day. So I went ahead and put the request in at my library. I should get it in about 2 weeks, which is perfect I think I will be ready to sit and read then, also the weather is changing and I will love cuddling up with a good book Smile

So I didn't make them, though I did tell the media specialist about the series, and suggested them for our media center. I've been seeing kids with the series. I have one 6th grader reading them, and several of my kids from last year (7th graders) are reading them. I asked one today where she was in Twilight, and she said she was re-reading it. Lol

:lurk:

you ALL are guilty of creating this newborn!! I had heard of the books, but wasn't that interested until I read all the talk on the boards so I ordered the box set. Opened it at midnight on Fri night (big mistake, but I wanted to look at them not realizing I would be up until 4am!). Finished the series on Tues. Now, I can't stop thinking about the story. I am DEFINITELY on team Edward!!!

It is a great series! Glad to have you join the Twilight family Laura!

One of my little guys was halfway through Eclipse today. He was just reading Twilight last week. He flew right on through New Moon. He even takes them into the cafeteria at lunch and reads while the other kiddos are blabbering away!
