Hi There. I'd really like to join your book club. I've never been in a book club like this before, but I definitely love to read. Two days ago I had my 2nd back surgery in a month, the first was Jan 19th, the second was Feb 21, for a herniated disc. I wish the first one would've worked, but unfortunately it didn't. The surgeon said if my disc herniates through the tear in the disc one more time I'll end up with a spinal fusion where he takes the disc out and goes through my abdomen with a plate and screws and ties the thing together. I'm hoping this one works. Anyway, because of surgery I am off work for the next few months and since I love to read I thought I'd read along with you guys. Some of you may have seen me on other boards. I host the May 2003 board, and am a member of the Oct 06 board as well as The Biggest Loser Challenge, Birth Defects and Children with Special Needs, and the Host Board. I look forward to reading with you all.

    Hi Mattie!

Wow, you've been through a lot in the last month or so. Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery!

We're happy to have you visit the board (BTW - there really is no membership here, any member of PO is welcome to be part of the book club.)

We are now deciding what our March book will be, and the other suggestions will round out the year. We'd love to have you read them and discuss them with us -- as well as any other books you might be reading.

I also wanted to point out a couple of items on the board that you might find helpful or interesting.

The "What Are You Reading" thread is an excellent source for suggestions,. I've added many books to my own TBR list, after seeing great reviews of them here.

We also have a 2008 reading challenge going (it's stickied up top.) The Challenge is to read a book for each letter of the alphabet. Feel free to claim a space for keeping up with the books you've read so far this year.

Right now we are in the midst of some changes. The board was having selections for 2 months, but we're going back to a monthly selection. We basically have the year planned out through November!! I'll post the order on the previous selections thread, which will be titled differently, after the March poll is closed on the 25th. The winner of the poll will be our March selection, and all others will follow as they were suggested.

Suggestions and Ideas for the board are encouraged and welcome!!

    Happy Reading!

Good to see you here too Mattie! I got addicted to this board too, even though it gets hard sometimes, you know, with life and such! I am excited for my first Selection read that will be chosen in a couple of days!

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for the warm welcome and all the info. I'm looking forward to getting into a good book. Well, I'm into 2 other good ones right now, but I can always use another one!
