Jodi Picoult's books

Rather than put this in the "What are you reading now?" thread, I thought I'd start a new one. I have now read two of Jodi Picoult's books, and I really see why so many people like them.

I have found that she writes in such a way that really keeps the plot constantly progressing and moving, with very few lulls that make you want to skim. I especially find the last chunk of her books intriguing compared to others I've read. She doesn't seem to just have one big climax toward the end and tie up loose ends for a few pages. I could probably pick the largest climax, but it seems to be a good bit before the book ends, and then it seems like there are a bunch more smaller climaxes and things solved in the last portion of the book. It makes the books so interesting to read, for the entire book, cover to cover. Way more than most books I've read.

Just wondering has anyone else found this? I've only read two of her books so far, Plain Truth and just finished Second Glance, the bookclub selection. So maybe it's just those two? I'm hoping not, though! Looking forward to any more books by her, that's for sure. And I hit the motherload, since my MIL and FIL enjoy her books, and have bought quite a few. They have lent me the ones they have finished, so I have five waiting for me, and one more that my MIL is reading now. Woo-hoo! Smile

I've read Nineteen Minutes and My Sister's Keeper.

Have also watched the lifetime movies of The Pact, The Tenth Cirlce, and The Plain Truth *that is the one with the Amish family, right?*

I find her to be very throught provoking. I like that her character's have so much dimension to them. Though I'm having a little difficulty with all the characters in Second Glance, but I'm barely on chapter 2 and about 1.5 hrs into listening. I always end up being sympathetic to most of the characters and really feeling like I know them, even the flawed ones. She really does such a great job of showing many sides, especially the emotional, of contemporary issues. I like a good story that moves easily, but makes me think, and she definitely provides that.

About Second Glance
Does she separate chapter 1 with a lot of the little **** to go on to the new characters? In listening he just pauses for a few seconds, maybe that makes it a little more confusing.

Yeah, there is a separator of sorts between sections that start with different characters, so I guess that's why he's pausing. I didn't know there was a movie for Plain Truth! (Yes, that's the Amish one). I wonder if it would be out in video stores?

Not sure but I've caught it a few times on Lifetime, and if you have LMN, you may even have a better shot of catching it. I know I did see The Tenth Cirlce movie in Blockbuster just the other day.

I love Jodi Picoult too.

I have read: Plain Truth, nineteen Minutes, The Pact, Picture Perfect, Salem Falls, Keeping Faith, My Sisters Keeper, Tenth Circle and Change of Heart. I have quite a few more in my TBR closet right by my bed...I just cannot read more that two of hers in a row.

I, also, totally love her characters and they always keep me interested but mainly I love the endings!! Gotta love Jodi endings. Smile A couple I have been a little disappointed in. ...my favorites are Change of Heart, My Sisters Keeper and Keeping Faith.
