I have not started it yet. The raunchy bit scared me so I thought I would read my books by Lynn Gardner first. I have a few of them. I also have a great book by Anita Stansfield that I might read before the Sookie books.

nah, I've been reading a few others right now. I'm not really into anything reading wise right now. Just a slump ... something that often happens with me and reading. I'll read non stop for months on end, and then I'll have a hard time getting into anything. I haven't even really been re-vamping the Twilight series lately.*gasp* I'm missing Vampire Academy right now. I keep finding myself contemplating what will happen and waiting for the release of it.
I have to relate a funny story on this series. I finished the Twilight series and loved it. DH knew I really liked it, and I told him many times not to ruin it for me with eyerolls and whatnot, so he managed to keep the eyerolling to a minimum. He actually watched the movie with me, but he wasn't a fan, to put it mildly. But I have to say that he at least didn't go on and on like he normally would - - mostly owing to the fact that I told him I didn't want to hear it, lol.
After that I needed something else to read, and I wanted to read the Sookie Stackhouse series, since you all have said such great things about it. DH offered to pick me up a book at Chapters because he knew I was looking for something new to read, and I asked for this series. When he found out it was another vampire series in the Young Adult section...well, there was some ribbing. :P But unfortunately the store was all out, and I haven't had a chance to go back.
In the meantime, we wanted to rent a series on dvd to watch (we don't have cable), but the one we wanted was out. He had heard that Tru Blood was good. I had heard good things about Tru Blood, but completely forgot about it being based on the Sookie Stackhouse series. We rented it and gave it a try. Well, I have to say that DH is totally hooked on the story! He is really intrigued about what's coming next, what's up with particular characters, etc. So it felt pretty good for me to tell him, "You know that vampire series I asked you to pick up at Chapters for me a while back? Well...this is it!" Ha ha...felt a bit like justice. Despite that, he is still enjoying it. We just finished the second disc, and I can bet he'll be coming home with more discs through the week.
Anyway, I still haven't read the books, but the series is definitely interesting. Racy, yes. Very...HBO as I keep calling it, lol. But the storyline is definitely intriguing. Does anyone know how close the show follows the books? I'm wondering if I'll still enjoy the books having seen the series.
