    Oooh fun!

    1. How did you learn to read? I can't remember! But I think I picked it up pretty quickly.

    2. About how many books do you think you have you read in your life? Wow...I have no idea. That would be a large number though! I don't even know how to start to calculate that!

    3. About how many books do you own? Not sure on this one either. Thousands I think!

    4. How many books per month do you usually borrow from the library? Probably an average of 5, some months more some less.

    5. Do you read in bed? Religiously. I love reading in bed!

    6. Do you ever read while walking or driving? LOL - Walking, yes, I get teased by DH for this incessantly! But I am able to keep a good idea of my surroundings and I stop to cross the roads. I just think it's a great way to pass the time on long walks! I don't drive, but I wouldn't read while driving either, except maybe in super stop and go traffic that was more stop than go.

    7. OK, let's get real. Where is the strangest place you've read a book? Hmmm...I'll have to think on this.

    8. Do you listen to audio books? Not really right now, but I think it's a great idea.

    9. Has anyone ever read aloud to you or you to them? Tell us more. Sometimes my hubby and I read aloud to each other. Mostly comedy books so we can enjoy them together. Of course people read to me as a kid all the time.

    10. What book was the most difficult to read? Most recently 2666. It was sooo long and not really what I felt like reading.

    11. Do you read every word of a book, or skip parts that don't hold your interest? Usually I read everything, but occasionally I'll skim over something I think is extra, like maybe a lot of description. Or, in my current book The Disappearing Spoon, some of the science that's over my head.

    12. Do you buy new or used books, paperbacks or hardbacks, leather or collector's items? I buy both new and used. I like the idea of used but sometimes I want a specific book so it's harder to find used. Online I just go new since you can't see for yourself the state of the used books. I like paperback for reading best, but if I want to buy a new book without waiting or get a book from the library I'll take hardcover as well. I don't buy collector's items really.

    13. How do you feel about writing in books, dog earing, etc I prefer not to write in books, and like to keep them as nice as possible, but I don't freak if they get dog eared over time.

    14. What is the first book you remember reading I know I read loads of kids books, and can't remember when. I know I read other chapter books before this, but the first chapter book I have a memory of reading is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

    15. Do you lend your books? Ever had to hire Large Louis to get it back for you? I like lending my books so people can experience the ones I really enjoyed. I have had books not returned before, but I've also been guilty of it when I was younger.

    16. What books would you especially recommend to young people? Roald Dahl's books and The Phantom Tollbooth are my top recommendations.

    17. Do you ever read the ending first? No way! Never!!

    1. How did you learn to read? I don't remember exactly, though I do remember having a difficult time initially. Then some time between 2 & 3 grade something just clicked. By 4th and 5th grade I was an avid reader.

    2.
About how many books do you think you have you read in your life? hundreds

    3.
About how many books do you own? I purge my collection often. Taking them to used book stores and trading in for credit, or donating to the library, or just passing along to others. I really don't like keeping books, mostly it is a storage issue. I also don't often reread books. I'd say I own 30 or less books in regular book form at home. I have quite a large library on my Kindle (mostly freebies), as well as an audible library. I do have books that are part of my classroom library as well and I didn't count them. The exception of owning books for me is children's books. The boys have a large bookshelf in their room full of kids books. A speaker at school once said that kids should own more books than they do clothes, and I thought that was such an awesome statement!

    4.
How many books per month do you usually borrow from the library? It depends, I can go months without checking one out, and then I can go and check 5 or 6 out on one visit. It would probably average out to 1 to 3 a month.

    5.
Do you read in bed? Yes!!!!!

    6.
Do you ever read while walking or driving? Audiobooks only. On a side note, I can't read while riding, I get sick.

    7.
OK, let's get real. Where is the strangest place you've read a book? In a storage closet at school, while pumping.

    8.
Do you listen to audio books? Yes!!!!

    9.
Has anyone ever read aloud to you or you to them? Tell us more. Yes to both. I remember my third grade teacher reading us the Little House books daily. I also remember one of my HS teachers reading Oh, The Places You'll Go! at our Senior breakfast luncheon. I'm sure there were other instances where I was read to, but those really stand out! I read to my own children, of course. I also do quite a bit of reading to my students. When I taught Language Arts it was a little easier, but even with teaching SS, I try to incorporate fiction when I can. Usually in the form of Legends, folktales, and stories that relate to what we might be discussing. I find most kids are very receptive to it!

    10.
What book was the most difficult to read? I never could finish The Road or The Kite Runner.

    11.
Do you read every word of a book, or skip parts that don't hold your interest? I try to read every word.

    12.
Do you buy new or used books, paperbacks or hardbacks, leather or collector's items? I don't often buy new, unless it is a book that I'm dying to get my hands on. I do buy used books, as well as paperbacks and hardbacks. If it is a book I plan to keep, such as the Twilight series or Hunger Games series, I buy in hardback. otherwise I buy in paperback if possible. Of course, many new releases rarely have that option. Since having my Kindle, I also have purchased a couple of new releases that way. My town does not have a bookstore (criminal, I tell ya!), so my only book buying options are Walmart, SAMS Club, and Kmart. Or travel 45 minutes to the nearest book stores. I also buy audio books I have an audible membership and get one credit per month. Roughly it translates to about 15.00 a month spent on audio books

    13.
How do you feel about writing in books, dog earing, etc I rarely write in books. Usually my name at most. I used to dogear all the time. I almost never do it anymore, only when I can't find my book mark, and feel a little guilty when I do.

    14.
What is the first book you remember reading. I remember struggling with The Red Badge of Courage in 4th grade. I guess the first book I really remember reading would have been Babysitter's Club books while in 5th grade. I know there were books before those. Just none stick out.

    15.
Do you lend your books? Ever had to hire Large Louis to get it back for you? Yes I do lend, No I have not had to hire anyone to get them back. Honestly, I don't stress over it that much.

    16.
What books would you especially recommend to young people? I guess it depends on how young. I'm going to go with middle grades + for my answer. The Giver by Lois Lowry, Wait Till Helen Comes by Mary Downing Hahn, Twilight Series (minus Breaking Dawn for the younger set), Hunger Games series (7th +), The Book Thief (9th+), The Witch of Blackbird Pond. I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

    17.
Do you ever read the ending first? Sometimes I will browse the last page sometime before getting to the ending. It rarely tells me anything that would severely spoil the book.

    1. How did you learn to read? No idea but I was young, well before starting school. It's a family legend that there I sat on my grandad's knee one day while he was reading an aviation encyclopedia and I was sounding out the words reading along
    2. About how many books do you think you have you read in your life? Too many to count
    3. About how many books do you own? Maybe a couple of hundred, I have always been a big library user
    4. How many books per month do you usually borrow from the library? at least 4 or 5 for me, about 20-30 for DS
    5. Do you read in bed? Yup
    6. Do you ever read while walking or driving? When I travel I have a book in the car because roadworks can get terrible around here
    7. OK, let's get real. Where is the strangest place you've read a book? ummm no idea, I think maybe a ski lift
    8. Do you listen to audio books? Not really, but I want to try to more.
    9. Has anyone ever read aloud to you or you to them? Tell us more. Read aloud to when I was young and I read to my DS all the time, I even sent hubby to the library when DS was a day old and we were still in hospital to get some picture books for me to read to DS because we had finished the one they give you.
    10. What book was the most difficult to read? Quite a few from school that were set readings and I didn't have an interest in but one chosen by myself, probably Wicked, I need to try it again.
    11. Do you read every word of a book, or skip parts that don't hold your interest? Depends on the book, some times I skim
    12. Do you buy new or used books, paperbacks or hardbacks, leather or collector's items? Some new some used and mostly paperback, though I do have some hardcovers
    13. How do you feel about writing in books, dog earing, etc. No writing unless a uni text (I have some highlighting in those) and I don't dog ear anymore but did when I was a kid
    14. What is the first book you remember reading Ummm not sure. I remember the Jolly postman, but it was far from the first
    15. Do you lend your books? Ever had to hire Large Louis to get it back for you? Yes I lend books, some have never made it home sadly
    16. What books would you especially recommend to young people? Anything they love. It doesn't matter what you read so long as you read is the message I will be teaching DS
    17. Do you ever read the ending first? I have been known to flick to the last page, but not often.

Love reading all the anwers to these!

Wendy, I also couldn't finish Wicked, and I made it pretty far in before putting it down and never picking it back up.

Angie, I think I'd like the Pretty Little Liars books, my nearly 15 year old probably would too. Are they very different from the show?

They are different enough to make both interesting IMO. The show actually annoyed me while i was reading the books because it was so different and I thought the books were better lol. The books are good though. I really enjoyed them.
