    Default New 2009 Challenge Suggestions

I was planning to keep the 08 ABC Challenge up even after the new year. I'm certain I can't finish before the end of the year, and I know several others would like to see it stay. Isn't it so rewarding to actually see all the reading you've done?!? I was thinking about a new challenge though, and wondering if anyone else had suggestions.

I was thinking about maybe doing an ABC of authors. Would love some thoughts and other ideas from everyone though.

It might be nice to get the book club selections going again too. I slacked off on reading the selections over the summer when I got behind, then I just never caught up

    Ideas, Ideas, Ideas, Please!

I like abc's of most anything. What about ABC of topics? Or Themes? or regions? Or a list of genre's to complete from.

    Mystery
    Classic
    Movies
    Non Fiction
    Textbook

Can I start on the ABC Challenge and put books that I have read in the past few months on it? I would like to try this, especially if you are leaving it up. Sorry I am not much help with challenges though.

I did this. I only recently started it but put many of the books ihad read or listened to on there.

I like the theme or the authors I need some new authors.

You can definitely go ahead and start on it. Any book you have read/listened to in 2008 is ok, even if it something you re-read!

I like the idea of authors because I thought it might make me read some authors I never have. I think if we do that though, maybe we should say that an author may only be used once, for example You couldn't read two Nicholas Sparks books and use him for N & S -- unless you all would like to be able to do that. Input on that please!

We could make it a dual challenge so that we try to do an ABC of authors and then try to read various genres as well.

I would not do well with reading different genres, so if we chose that one I would be "out". I don't get into books that are not my "type" very easily.

I was MIA for quite a bit and just got back here on a more regular basis and am just starting the 08 challenge list as of Oct. So I would like that to be kept please, so I can keep going and finish it.

I think for 2009 it would be fun to do Authors. I agree, 1 book per author to shake it up a bit. Will we go by last name, first name or either?

I also slacked off on the monthly selections during my MIA time, BUT I did come back at the end of Sept and pick right back up and read "Salem Falls" for Oct. And was going to read the selection for Nov. but it doesn't look as if my library carries it, which is weird, I have never run across this probelm. Is the title right for sure? Are we still doing threads on the monthly choices to discuss them, or not?

I think we should get thinking and making of a new 2009 bookclub slection list ASAP.

I'd like to do the 2008 challenge, but would then love to do an ABC author challenge after that.

    Peace,

The 08 ABC of Book Titles is staying put for as long as we want it to! I love being able to go back and look at all I've read. It's pretty gratifying!!

I think I'd run into that same problem Jenn, my reading time is so limited in the school year, so it has to be something I enjoy to keep my attention. Even then I don't get to read as much as I'd like. The thing with an author ABC challenge is that it will naturally lend itself to trying different genres.

I think 1st or Last name can be used, but that's just IMO.

Post Ideas for 2009 selections anytime!

Yes you will get different types of books, but I don't have to read poetry or non-fiction, etc if I don't want to to get all my ABC's taken care of. I bet I can find enough for every letter and still stay in books that will "grab" me.
