Hardback or trade paperback or mass market paperback?
I usually do paperback -- it's just less expensive. Unless it's something I plan to keep (like the HP series, then I do hardback)

No Borders close to me that I know of, so I'll say B&N

Bookmark or dogear?
On occasion, when my little ones have thieved all of my bookmarks, I will dogear, but I try not to do that.

Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random?
I really don't keep enough books to alphabetize.

I try to break at chapters, but sometimes I have to stop because I'm tired.

Usually standalone, but I have found a couple of series I enjoy.

B&N as I am boycotting Borders as woman was INCREDIBLY rude to me last time I was in there - she asked if I wanted to sign up for some club - well I live 50 miles from the store and I said no thanks I don't come here that often - her reply - you could have said no - I didn't need the lame excuse! UGH!

Hardback or trade paperback or mass market paperback?
Generally paperback. 1) they're cheaper (and I read enough to justify wanting cheap!) 2) they take up less room in my bookcase. However, I had to have the Harry Potter series in hardback.

Amazon or brick and mortar?
I love to browse in bookstores. I could spend entire days in bookstores. If I'm online, I've generally got multiple things going on. Plus I like to be able to thumb through a book a little.

Barnes & Noble or Borders?
Borders!

Bookmark or dogear?
Bookmark. I usually lose actual bookmarks, so mine are generally old receipts. Blum 3

Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random?
By author, then title if I have multiple books by the same author

Keep, throw away, or sell?
Keep. I'll go back & read them a few years later when some of the details have had a chance to disappear

Keep dustjacket or toss it?
I usually keep it unless it's messed up.

Read with dustjacket or remove it?
Keep it on unless it's really bugging the crap outta me, then I'll take it off.

Short story or novel?
I love a good novel. I love to just disappear into someone else's life for short time.

Collection (short stories by same author) or anthology (short stories by different authors)?
I'd have to say anthology unless it's an author I really enjoy.

Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket?
Harry Potter girl all the way!!! I just never really got into the Lemony Snicket...

Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?
I try to make it to a chapter break. Otherwise I go to bed & then stay awake wonder what happens next!

“It was a dark and stormy night” or “Once upon a time”?
Hmmm...probably dark & stormy...

Buy or borrow?
I've always just bought until recently. Even now, I'll probably end up buying the ones that I've borrowed. Biggrin

New or used?
I don't mind used if they've been taken care of. And I CANNOT stand a book from a smoker!!! I bought a couple off of e-bay w/o knowing & I almost couldn't read them b/c the stench of smoke was so strong... :puke2:

Buying choice: book reviews, recommendation or browse?
Usually browse, but I'll take recommendations occasionally

Tidy ending or cliffhanger?
tidy ending. Cliffhangers give me indigestion & make me mad.

Morning reading, afternoon reading or nighttime reading?
Any time I get a chance!!!

Standalone or series?
Usually stand alone, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Harry Potter Series!

Favorite series?
hmmm...Harry Potter Biggrin

Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
I probably have several, b/c I love to read real life medical books - Trauma Junkie, Intensive Care, etc

Favorite books read last year?
My Sister's Keeper & Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows

Favorite books of all time?
The entire Harry Potter series, Jane Eyre, The Great Gatsby, My Sister's Keeper...I love almost everything I read!!!
