Sookie Stackhouse/Bill - Bella/Edward

Anyone who has read these find it hard not to note the similarities in the characters.

I've just started reading Dead Until Dark, and can't help but make comparisons in the characters and some of the character traits, etc. I know they are both about vampires, and there are definitely some differences as well, I just thought the similarities were kind of interesting.

Yes! Definitely! But I noticed it the feeling passed as I got further into the series (Southern Vamp) and I really got to "know" the characters. Stick with it, it took me about halfway through Dead Until Dark to stop saying "but vampires don't have fangs!"

I'm enjoying it already. It's just so hard for me not to compare it to Twilight, as that is pretty much the only other vampire series I've read.
The whole mind reading thing, etc. Maybe these characteristics are just things that would be found in most vampire books though.

*sigh* I'm still waiting for the first. I'm on the wait list at the library.

I've read so many different vamp books, each writer has their own things that work on each vamp, and dont work. They all have their differences. I'm in the middle of like 6 different vamp series right now, and they are ALL different.

:woohoo: can't wait to hear what you think.

I saw the series at Target over the weekend, in paperback the books averaged about $6.00. I didn't think that was bad at all, and figured I might have to pick them up. I only have a credit or two on audible right now, so not enough to really do the whole series.

I'm finished with the first audio part -- my audible download broke it into two segments. One major difference between it and Twilight is that it is much more geared to adults. Raunchy might be a good word to describe some of it, but all in good fun. Be forewarned though, if a bit of trashy romance isn't your thing.

Ooooh I am a huge Sookie fan! I was the same way when I started them in noting all the similarities. But the differences are so huge that soon you start developing a different kind of feeling for these characters. Glad to hear that so many of you are enjoying them!
