Am I the only one disappointed? The screamers sure did not help any.

I thought it was awful. Probably even one of the worst movies I've seen in my opinion. It was funny, but I felt almost like they were trying to do a parody of the book. And yes, the screaming teenage girls were really wearing on my nerves. I just left feeling sad because I was so looking forward to it.

I actually loved it. I think my secret was to go in with really low expectations- I was expecting it to suck:). I was wary of the cast and the directing, from what I saw in the promo materials, but I was very pleasantly surprised.
Robert Pattinson is my hero, he pulled off the whole movie. There are a couple scenes I'd change, but overall, I rate it as good as the book (which is to say, nothing earth-shattering but enjoyable fluff)

I, absolutely hated it! Here is a my response that I posted from my BB...

It freakin SUCKED!!!!!

OMG.....worst movie I have ever seen....I am so utterly disappointed!

I mean ... I totally knew that the movie would not really live up to the book. But, as big as they made this out to be...my thoughts we "B" movie all the way. I totally did not believe that Bella loved Edward...and they way he showed his sparkly skin was just dumb...that was suppose to be a romantic part. They left out sooooo many parts of the book and added a few that just did not make sense....And the acting was HORRIBLE...With all the money that Miss. Meyer made on her books she, herself, she could have invested a little more on this film.

UGH!

Bummer... I am just going to try and block it out of my mind so I can get back to really liking Edward. Smile

I am curious what the teenagers thought....I do have to say I was one of the oldest people in that theater. Smile

I am also shocked with how many enjoyed the movie.

DH and I just laugh about her always heaving chest... attempt at a sexual response to Edward - but just felt awkward and bordered inappropriate.

The movie could have been done so much better. I know it would not be exactly like the book and I went thinking it wouldn't - but they really changed it so that it felt shallow and did not develop some very leading information. Like Carlisle. And they did not even introduce Voltury... the 3 men.

I know it is a film and they can only fit in so much - but when they had the opportunity they flubbed it. Like the onion Phases. Just done WRONG!

The acting was lacking too. I would have expected something similar to Lord of the rings or Van Helsenk or Harry Potter - but the bar did not come even close. Sad

I was pleasantly surprised. We went to a 7:20 showing on Friday night. It was a sold out show, but unlike a lot of you, I didn't have the rabid fangirls, at least not right around us. So no screaming teenagers!

My biggest gripe with the movie, is that some of the characters and story weren't as developed as I would have liked to have seen, especially Jasper. If I hadn't read the book, I wouldn't have understood why he was always looking as though he was in pain and the weird soldier like stance, it would have just been bizarre. I was still displeased with the casting of Carlisle, but I have been since finding out who the cast was. I just picture Carlisle to be more distinguished and a tad older looking, than the actor. I know in the book he is quite young, but ... PF is just not my ideal actor, though I'm not sure who would be. I thought some of it was a bit hokey, particularly the whole tree climbing/flying thing. To the best of my recollection that was just something added, I don't remember that being a scene in the book, and it just didn't fit well to me. I wasn't super crazy with all the close-up face footage, maybe that's more my issue though, since I like my own personal space. My mom liked that.

Now for what I did really like. The humor was great! I loved Charlie, and Billy Black, and I enjoyed the scenes from the H.S. The kitchen scene was great. The whole dress shopping/boobs thing, so cute, especially with the prom tie-in at the end. Overall, I was really pleased with the adaptation. I knew going in that there was no way that the movie could fully do justice to the book. I think given the budget, etc. they did a good job. I'm hopeful that since New Moon has been given the green light and Twilight had such a great opening, that more money will be put toward the budget for NM. I think that will make a huge difference with the special effects. I still think the studio doesn't have a good understanding of the wide scope of who the audience is, and I think that might have had something to do with the direction Twilight took. It's a bit more MTV generation geared, than toward the whole audience, IMO. Hoefully, they'll have a bit better understanding of that now.

I actually wanted to go back and watch it, and I will be over the Thanksgiving weekend with a couple of friends who couldn't make it. I feel like I'll enjoy it more the second time around, since I won't be so busy making comparisons. My MIL did enjoy it more the second time around. Both SILs that saw it, enjoyed it. My mom liked it a lot, and my best friend, who hasn't read the books, was really surprised by how much she enjoyed it.

I too had set my expectaions very low so i was happy with it, may take a girl friend back to see it later.
I guess we where lucky as the teenagers in the place we went scremed very little. We all laughed at the stupid parts (the first scene in the science room i about died laughing).
Overall i was impressed and was happier witht he cast then i figured i would be. Of corse dh was happy with Rosalie  something about the baseball outfit.

Now on to New Moon. If they dont get the painfull draw right for that movie it will kill it all for me. I need the draw done right or the rest could be done the same and it wowuldnt matter.

Did I completely miss the lines "Do I dazzle you .... Frequently."? I don't remember hearing that, and it is one of my favorites.

I liked it!!! We went to the 9:30 show and the manager actually came into the theater before the show to announce the "no screaming, talking and making noise rule". it was great!

All I could think of seeing Jasper was Edward Scissorhands. He looked and acted goofy just like him. At the beginning I was thining I was not going to like it. But I really enjoyed it. Robert Pattinson stole the show. I did not have high expecttions and I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it and was as drawn in as I was.

I was pleasantly surprised. I did enjoy it. But, I too, went in with really low expectations. I also know there is NO way they could re-create the book. I think they did a good job. There were a few things I would change, but that's with any movie. I though RP did some bad acting in the beginning, but he grew on me by the end, and I was really happy with him. As for Jacob,, he looked horrible. That's not even a good word. I truly hope they do better with him in NM, b/c he plays a huge part. I really hope they make him look better. All and all, I was very pleased.

This was my exact thought! That's so funny! I wish they would have explained why he was acting like that though. You only knew if you read the book.

I think Jacob was GREAT! My husband is NW coast Native and I can tell you that the natives look just like Jacob... In fact, my little BIL looks almost exactly like him and my BIL is 21. Now Sam... he it the one that I was not expecting to look like that. For some reason I expected him not to look so old.

The Jacobs dad looked more like the Plains Indians. Not so much like the regional natives here that I have seen, but he still looked good.

Natives look more and more impressive as they get older. I know, I am growing older with one! Wink

Wow, such varying opinions! I thought Jacob was perfect, his smile was heart-warming. I thought Jasper was adorable, and they did explain a little why he acted the way he did (when Bella was at their house and they did introductions).
My overall take is: the movie was exactly like the books- cheesy, flawed, over-hyped, and yet still surprisingly enjoyable.

Saw Twilight again today and enjoyed it a great deal. Some things that really bothered me the first time around seemed a little less glaringly obvious.

Still hated the whole tree climbing/flying thing. They could have left that out, and added the blood typing scene!

I have been thinking I need to see it again. I think my hormones are really off lately and I am very irritable. Maybe when I am in a better mood and know there will be no screaming teens around. LOL

The first time I saw it, I left 5 screaming kids to encounter 1 3yr old screaming girl, I couldn't help but laugh that the first time I sit down to watch the movie I get kicked & bugged by a little kid LOL

I have to admit, I didn't really like it the first time I saw it. I went in expecting it to not be good, but even w/ that I was still a bit dissapointed. I thought the acting was corny & unnatural, and a lot of the scenes just weren't how I was picturing them. I felt they rushed a lot of scenes that should of been slowed down, so that the 'feel' between Edward & Bella would be created. The whole wing thing in the science room!? LOL Holy crap. But there were parts that I did like, and there were certainly scenes where I wanted to be Kristen Stewart LOL But otherwise I left slightly dissapointed.

I still picture Edward with darker hair, and more smooth but I thought RP did a decent job. Bella, she fit pretty well for me, obviously not perfect but I wasn't after perfect lol Japser made me laugh SO HARD! He did the whole "I'm in pain" look perfect, I'm laughing just now thinking about it lol He did remind me of Edward Sissor Hands though, but I still think he did great. Alice & Rosalie were great, and btw my husband liked the baseball outfit too lol Men!Esme I pictured different, and Carlise. I also pictured Charlie different but I thought he pulled that role off really well. Jacob, beautiful face & smile I think he's perfect as far as that goes I just pictured him to be a bit more husky than he was. Anyways, there's my "character" opinion lol

Well, we complained to the management about this crazy family & their kids so we got free tickets, I ended up going the next day & was pleasantly surprised at how much I really liked it the 2nd time around. Yea, it's a different than the books but that's always how it is, so I sat & enjoyed it for what it was. I liked that it WAS different from most movies, the feel of it, the coloring & music ~ it's different & I like that. There were still corny parts, but over all the movie really grew on me. I'm hoping to go see it again this weekend with my sister who has already seen it 4 times ha ha

I bought the sound track, and the oh what do you call it ~ bascially the background music for the movie. I love a lot of the songs they choose. I admit I was hoping they would use Cold Plays song, In My Place. But over all the music is good.

Okay, in reading twilight again I found something else I wish they had done in the movie. After they were in his grove, and he showed her his skin they were soo affectionate with each other & they didn't show that in the movie, that makes me bummed lol I guess the more I analyze it the more I realize how much more they could of done. Hopefully due to how popular this movie was, New Moon will improve. *fingers crossed*
