I have read them and would love to discuss. My pg brain is making it hard for me to come up with a starting discussion questions. Ummm... Ok, here are a few. I know I have better discussion points but I finished the books about 2 months ago so I can't think right now. Some DO contain spoilers:

1) The author herself has said that the last book is going to be tough to put into a movie, for various reasons. How do you think they will do the more difficult portions? Leave certain scenes out? Etc.
2) Which actors/actresses do you see best for which roles? Would you change any of the current ones? Why or why not? Personally, I am a little worried about Robert for Eddward. Not because I don't think he's doing a good job. Actually, considering that outside of Twilight I find him rather unremarkable, I think he DOES do a good job making you swoon for him a bit in the movie. No, I worry because I know he's already a little skittish on all the attention he's receiving, that's just going to get worse I think, as the next few movies draw you in even more. But I worry because from interviews he seems to shy away a bit from the corny lovey-dovey side of Edward. Well...um...yeah. That gets waaaaaay worse. Has Robert read the books? He might want to know what he's getting into...
3) For some reason the pregnancy occurred to me in book 3, but I dismissed it as impossible. Anyone else figure something out really early? Or get blindsided by something that others saw coming? I didn't figure out it was Edward on the phone in New Moon until Alice came right out and said it, for example.

That's a start. Anyone care to add to those as discussion points?

#1 I have a hard time imagining how they will carry out some of the scenes from the last book. I'd think they would need a huge budget for it. The pregnancy/birth will certainly be difficult. However, I think the hardest part will be what to do with Bella. How do you change her at that point, when the audience is so comfortable/used to Bella. She doesn't sound or look the same, can Kristen Stewart play her at that point, and it still be "like" the book? It doesn't seem so.

#2 Right now I'm cool with all the cast. I guess my main concern is what to do with Kristen, which I just addressed. As far as the actors carrying out their parts. I figure this is what they do, and now they should have a good understanding of how big this is going to be/get! I still feel bad for how uncomfortable they seem to be with all the new found fame. Kristen Stewart also seems a little uncomfy with it all. IDK, maybe they thought this was going to be some small movie with a small following, and just weren't expecting it all to blow up and thrust them into the spotlight.

#3 I'm one of those who really didn't spend a lot of time pondering what was going to happen. I read the series starting in Fall of 2007. Was done with it early 2008, and only had to wait until August for BD. Also The Host came out inbetween all of that, so I had that to help bide my time. I guess I wasn't really blindsided by anything, because I didn't go into it expecting one thing or the other. I was just along for the ride!! I was a fan of both Edward and Jacob (A Switzerland), so I was eager to see how that would play out. I was pleasantly surprised with the pregnancy. That was one of my major hangups for Bella picking Edward . I was glad she could have her cake and eat it too! A little shocked with the imprinting, but saw it coming in the book itself. I guess the most shocking thing was Alice and Jasper leaving. Though I really wanted to believe she had a plan the whole time!!

Hi! I'm new to this board, but was searching out people talking about Twilight. I'm new to the series and just finished it last Wednesday (after reading constantly for a week).

1. I think the biggest challenge with portraying Breaking Dawn will be the the birth, Renesmee's talent and Bella's talent. I can't imagine how they're going to portray a force-field around all of the vampires to protect them. But, with digital technology today, I think anything is possible in movies.

2. I was a fan of the books before I saw the movie and I don't think the movie did the books any justice. I think my expectations after reading the book will just never be fulfilled. Nothing could possibly match my own ideas of what the characters were like, ya know? That's the problem with trying to adapt a movie to a book; everyone interprets literature differently and it would be impossible to satisfy everyone's expectations of how the characters should be portrayed.

3. I considered the idea of Bella getting pregnant in book 3 as well, but wasn't sure if it was possible for Edward to procreate. But, once she started eating dozens of eggs and sleeping all day, I knew. Smile I pegged Jacob imprinting on Renesmee as soon as he committed to the vampire's side, while Bella was still pregnant. Only because I thought there had to be more keeping him on that side than just Bella because she was obviously never leaving Edward. Yea, I suppose they were best friends and all, and he could have been sticking by her side because of that, but I just had a hunch there was more. I really wanted it to turn out that way because I really wanted Jacob to be happy.

Here are some questions:

1) which of the 4 books is your favorite and why?

2) What happens when Bella is on her period?

3) Have you read Midnight Sun (Twilight told from Edward's perspective, on her website)? Do you think Stephenie Meyer will complete it?

1. My favorite of the 4 books was Breaking Dawn. It was such a huge relief that she was finally a vampire, that she had a baby, and that, in the end, everything turned out perfectly. Twilight is a close 2nd. New Moon was my least favorite... so sad... so depressing.

2. I couldn't help thinking about what would happen if Bella got her period throughout all the books (except Breaking Dawn). My guess is Edward would go hunting. Wink

3. I am dying for Stephenie Meyer to complete Midnight Sun. Reading Edward's perspective and what he was thinking through Twilight (the first half of it, at least) was so interesting. Now I am reading Twilight again and it's so cool to know what was going on in his head! I would absolutely love it if she wrote the entire series from Edward's perspective!

1. Hmmm, I love them all, so it is hard to choose. I think Twilight is still my favorite, followed by Eclipse, Breaking Dawn, and New Moon.

2. From what I've read online, the period blood is not appealing to vampires. I wondered about this too. Would be pretty hard on them if it was, especially attending a HS and all.

3. I have not, I'm still holding out hope she will finish it, and I will get to read the version she intended to be read. If she ever says that she flat out isn't going to complete it, I will read it.

I have favorites parts of each book, but if I had to pick a single book, my favorite is probably Eclipse.

I've also thought about the period dilemma! ROFL

Kelly, I can not believe that you've managed to hold out! I LOVE Midnight Sun. I also would love to read the entire Saga from Edward's perspective. There are so many times while reading the Saga that I wonder what's going through his head.

have you read any of the outtakes/extras? I love the prom remix and the phone call ones (can't remember what they are called right now - miscalculation and Rosalie maybe).

1. Breaking Dawn would have to be my favourite. I found that each book was my favourite until I read the next, with the exception of New Moon. I think it is an important part of the whole story, and I am glad it exists, but it was my least favourite.

2. Good question. It didn't occur to me, but I think that maybe Finzmom4 has it right.

3. I have and I loved it.

SPOILER:
I'm not sure if this is really a spoiler, but maybe some people don't know that Midnight Sun is Twilight re-done by Edward's perspective? Anyway I was DYING to find out what he would be thinking at the meadow scene and was sooooo gutted that it stopped JUST before!!
END SPOILER

I do personally think she will finish it, but I think it will be done quietly and when the hype has died down. I think that it will be a while too. But I do think she'll finish it.

I have read most of the outtakes/FAQs and found them very interesting. My favourite was her answer about why they gear up for a big battle that never happens, and the foreshadowing from the whole from Alice tearing a page from The Merchant of Venice, where pretty much the same thing occurs (gearing up for a battle that doesn't happen). I thought that was pretty cool, and I wish I had read The Merchant of Venice, and wonder whether I'd have made that connection!

Hey ya'll! I didn't become a Twihard until the first week of March when I started the series and finished all four books that week! LOL I have read all for books 3 times cover to cover and have revamped my favorite sections/chapters even more. I've always been a reader and have read several of my favorites over and over before, but nothing like this. I am just in love with Bella and Edward's whole story and I wish it didn't have to end!

Here are a few questions:

1) In Breaking Dawn, which scene was the happiest for you? The saddest?

For me, the saddest scene was when Bella started saying goodbye to Renesmee…I started bawling as soon as she started talking to her - it felt like I was Bella saying goodbye to my daughter and I felt my heart breaking with hers. I'm getting all choked up now just thinking about it and knowing that it was unnecessary!
The happiest scene for me was when Bella was able to let Edward into her mind. I could only imagine what kind of gift that was for Edward - always knowing what everyone else is thinking except for the one who mattered most - never being sure how Bella felt because he was so used to knowing.

2) What other perspectives would you like to have besides Edward's?

I think Jasper's perspective would be pretty cool - with Edward, we'd basically be getting the perspectives of everyone around him as well, but we would be getting something similar from Jasper.

3) If we can't have more of Bella and Edward's story, whose would you like to hear?

Certainly, if anyone's story would be continued in Twilight - we would still get some taste of Bella and Edward, which would be nice. The nice part of having a section of BD told from Jacob's perspective was seeing Edward through someone else's eyes (not just the person in love with him but someone who actually couldn't stand him (at least in the beginning!!)). SM has mentioned that if she were to go back to Twilight - she would probably tell the stories of Renesmee or Leah which I would LOVE to hear about either one. Obviously Renesmee is still growing and we have a lot to learn about her, not to mention what will happen when she comes of age and how she and Jacob will deal with the other halfblood (can't think of his name at the moment!). And will Leah ever imprint? Can she have children? I hurt for her, especially not knowing! I like to think that maybe her menses are all messed up now but will alter when she doesn't need to shapeshift anymore (remember them discussing that they stop aging until they don't need to shapshift anymore?) or perhaps when she finally imprints, her makeup will change again and she'll be able to bare children with her soulmate. Anyways, I'd love to hear more about ANY of the characters!

~~~~~~~~
Here are my answers to the questions already posed:
1) The author herself has said that the last book is going to be tough to put into a movie, for various reasons. How do you think they will do the more difficult portions? Leave certain scenes out? Etc.
The book is pretty long but its also very detailed. I think they could probably cut out a lot of the nitty gritty to shorten the story but its going to have to be a very long movie. Which I wouldn't mind at all Biggrin I loved all the LOTR movies and those were super long so I don't see fans having a problem with longer Twilight movies. As far as certain scenes/people and if they would be able to pull it off - well, Renesmee for the most part is not going to be able to be portrayed by a human - CGI is going to have to play a BIG part but I think they can pull it off - look at Gollum in LOTR and that was several years ago. For her talent, I think they'll be able to cut to her visions whenever she's showing them to people. For Bella's talent, (not sure if I'm going to be able to explain whats in my head right for this one) they could do something like cutting to her and almost having the audience inside her head and show the forcefield surrounding everyone as she's realizing the strength of it is growing and starts playing with how/who she can control it around.
2) Which actors/actresses do you see best for which roles? Would you change any of the current ones? Why or why not?
The only problem I had with the cast was the makeup job for the Cullens in Twilight. I've heard that the makeup is going to be much better for New Moon which is a releif. Also, Jasper sorta reminds me of Edward Scissorhands - at least in that first scene when they make their appearance in the cafeteria! LOL I've always been pretty good at keeping movies separate in my head from the literature I've read. When I read Twilight after seeing the movie, its still the same Twilight to me - I don't imagine the cast or scenery from the movie.
3) For some reason the pregnancy occurred to me in book 3, but I dismissed it as impossible. Anyone else figure something out really early? Or get blindsided by something that others saw coming? I didn't figure out it was Edward on the phone in New Moon until Alice came right out and said it, for example.
I was so intrigued by the story that SM was creating, I didn't think too much ahead about what was going to happen. Also, there wasn't enough time for me to do that since I was speed reading through all four books in one week! LOL I did know right away that it was Edward on the phone in New Moon and I also knew that Bella was preggo as soon as she started talking about how exhausted she was, the difference in her dreams, the eating a gazillion eggs, etc. I felt a few times that she was a little slow on the uptake throughout the series.
I wouldn't say I was blindsided by the imprinting, but I will say I wasn't expecting it. As soon as it happened though, I immediately put it all together - I mean everything from day one between Jacob and Bella finally made sense. I liked Jacob, but as a best friend for Bella, never a romantic interest. When she started having feelings for him, I was sooooooooo disappointed. What a stupid complication. LOL
~~~~~~~~~~~

1) which of the 4 books is your favorite and why?

Breaking Dawn is my favorite for the same reason someone else mentioned - I love that Bella got everything she wanted. Who cares if its unrealistic? Seriously? We're talking about vampires and warewolves here!!! It was so nice that everything worked out the way it did. I loved that Bella was able to have a baby and I thought it was awesome that in the end, she was the reason that the Cullen Clan won!

2) What happens when Bella is on her period?

Ya know, this question never came up for me when I was reading or revamping the series. I saw an article where Steph mentions how many times she's asked this question and her answer was "Gross!" or something like that. I liked someone's answer on here about how period blood isn't appealing to the vamps - it makes a lot of sense.

3) Have you read Midnight Sun (Twilight told from Edward's perspective, on her website)? Do you think Stephenie Meyer will complete it?

Yes and I too was completely disappointed when it ended right before the meadow scene. All I wanted to read was what Edward was thinking during that intense scene!! ARG! I would LOVE to read the whole series from his POV but sadly, I have a feeling that SM will never finish MS and she's already mentioned that she was only planning on writing Twilight from his perspective and that New Moon would be too painful.

Great questions!!

1) In Breaking Dawn, which scene was the happiest for you? The saddest?

I had several happy moments. 1st off finding out Bella was pregnant, that was my one reservation for her being with Edward instead of Jacob. My second happy moment was when Alice showed back up at the end, I love Alice! She's one of my favorites.

2) What other perspectives would you like to have besides Edward's?

I enjoyed Jacob's chapters in the book, so it would be cool to see more from him. Really I think it would be interesting from most of them. I really like each character in their own way, so ... any of them.

3) If we can't have more of Bella and Edward's story, whose would you like to hear?

I want to know a bit more about the wolves, Leah especially. Any of the Cullens. I think Carlisle's story could be very interesting.

1) In Breaking Dawn, which scene was the happiest for you? The saddest?

The happiest scene for me is a toss-up between when Bella and Edward went hunting together for the first time and when Alice comes back at the end. Ohhh... but the part where Bella finally lets Edward into her thoughts was unbelieveably awesome too.

The saddest scene was definitely when Bella put Renesmee on Jacob's back so they could leave if they had to. My heart was breaking for her, too.

2) What other perspectives would you like to have besides Edward's?

I would love to hear Alice's perspective! Rosalie would be a good one too. I think she's a pretty deep character, despite her superficial image.

3) If we can't have more of Bella and Edward's story, whose would you like to hear?

Renesmee and Jacob's story, for sure. I am dying to know how things work out for them.

1) The author herself has said that the last book is going to be tough to put into a movie, for various reasons. How do you think they will do the more difficult portions? Leave certain scenes out? Etc.

The main thing that concerns me is the switch in the story, from Bella to Jacobs perspective and how they can smoothly transition that. Also the communication between the wolves, and Edwards mind reading. Is it going to just be voices that no one else is supposed to hear? I guess we'll see.

2) Which actors/actresses do you see best for which roles? Would you change any of the current ones? Why or why not?

I love Robert as Edward. However, I could not stand Kristen as Bella to the point where I didn't even buy the movie cause she bugged me so badly. I never once bought that she was "unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.”

3) For some reason the pregnancy occurred to me in book 3, but I dismissed it as impossible. Anyone else figure something out really early? Or get blindsided by something that others saw coming? I didn't figure out it was Edward on the phone in New Moon until Alice came right out and said it, for example.

I did figure it was Edward on the phone in New Moon. And I totally saw the pregnancy thing coming but not until it said something about her "vivid dreams"

Here are some questions:

1) which of the 4 books is your favorite and why?

Twilight is probably my favorite Smile I love them all though.

2) What happens when Bella is on her period?

I guess it would be a convenient time for Edward to take a hunting trip.

3) Have you read Midnight Sun (Twilight told from Edward's perspective, on her website)? Do you think Stephenie Meyer will complete it

Yes I have read it, and I definitely think she will finish it. I think it almost seems to perfect to stop right at the meadow scene. I think she will wait til all the movies are released though, and I think it will be her biggest seller.

1) In Breaking Dawn, which scene was the happiest for you? The saddest?

My favorite part was when Alice returned. And the saddest was when it would describe Edward when he was sure Bella was dying. Its horrible to see such a strong man be broken like that.

2) What other perspectives would you like to have besides Edward's?

I think Alice would be a ton of fun. But really Edward would satisfy me.

3) If we can't have more of Bella and Edward's story, whose would you like to hear?

No one Smile

I have some questions for you all, since i just kinda jumped in here with no introduction Biggrin

Which scenes are you most excited to see in the movies.

What are some scenes or line that you think New Moon cannot do without!?

What do you guys think will make for a better movie.
The audience being clued in that he's leaving Bella for her own good, complete with showing his true feelings even when he is breaking up with her?
or the audience not being clued into his motivations for leaving Bella. That all they see is Edward stone faced telling her about how sick he is of being human and ready to be distracted?

Both options are understandable, but each choice will make for a VERY different movie.
Which do you prefer, and what type of movie do you think it will be with your preference?

I have thought about this, and I have my opinion now. My biggest issue with the first movie was that it would be difficult for people who hadn't read the books tor really understand what was going on a lot of the time. A great deal of the complaints I heard about the movie from those who had not read the book would have been solved if they had. So I do think it's important for the audience to know Edward's true intentions. However, it could be done, say, in a conversation with Alice. It can be clear that Bella herself doesn't know.

I am actually excited to see when Edward leaves Bella in the forest. It's going to be heart-wrenching, but I just hope they do a good job with it. I also want to see how they're going to portray his voices talking to Bella in the movie. And, the whole cliff diving scene will be fun to see.

Eclipse... man... so many. I love this book (and it's quickly becoming my fave of the four). The scene when Edward comes home from hunting and Bella wakes up in his bed. Yea... that's going to be awesome. Jacob and Bella kissing is going to be pretty hot too. And the whole climactic fight scene.

Breaking Dawn - Renesmee. I don't have a clue how they're going to pull it off and I can't wait to see it.

What are some scenes or line that you think New Moon cannot do without!?
I don't know. There are so many scenes that can't be left out but are so obvious I don't think they will. Like Edward leaving, Bella being rescued by Sam, her buying the motorcycles and bringing them to Jacob, cliff diving, Alice, Italy, porsche, Volturi, Edward and Bella back at home.

What do you guys think will make for a better movie.

I actually think they should stay true to the book. I think it would be bad if they clued the audience in. Everything is cleared up at the end of the book, but the reader doesn't realize Edward's intentions for leaving until then. I think movies are better if they make you wonder throughout. Divulging every little thing takes away some of the excitement.

I don't know if any of you know, but on her website she said she is going to finish Midnight Sun. I took this from her website

June 2008 Update: In response to the outrageous number of emails that I have received with questions concerning Midnight Sun, I talked to Stephenie this weekend and she asked me to let everyone know that Midnight Sun is her next project. She has not yet finished writing it (and there is no timeline set up, so we all need to put a lot of effort into being patient for a while longer), but she is definitely still planning on having it published. And, after Breaking Dawn comes out, Stephenie will have much more time to focus on writing Midnight Sun.

Yeah, but then there was another update after that - - Aug. 2008 I think? - - saying that she wasn't. Or at least, that as of right now she was not, and maybe in the future would change her mind, but for now no.

On the Midnight Sun issue, I totally think she will finish it. It was all to perfect for her not to! I mean seriously... letting everyone read RIGHT up to the meadow scene and then stopping? Come on! I think she will wait til all the movies have been made and then release Midnight Sun, and I think it will be here biggest seller due to the newfound popularity through the movies. I loved what I read of Midnight Sun even more then I liked Twilight. Which is NUTS! Smile
