Has anyone ever been involved in a MOPS group? A friend of mine suggested I look into it -- the parish I am moving into has a MOPS group and she suggested that might be a good way to get situated in a new area, meet new friends, etc. Course it says it is for all moms, including working moms, but it looks like they meet during the day which I could not do.
Where we are moving is pretty far away from any place I know so it would be nice to meet with new friends and get some help transitioning into a new place but I can be some what shy, and working can be hard for me to do things.
Just wondering if any one has been involved in this before?
I had some success with meetup.com- there was an active group in my area and I did some stuff with them. Seemed to be a good variety of days/times/events. Maybe check there?
There is a moms group at my parish, but my own mother is actively involved with it, and as much as I love her, I think I'd feel awkward trying to connect with new people with my mom there too. (Might be just me!)
I need more local mom friends! DD1 was forever talking about one of her daycare classmates, so I bit the bullet and contacted her mom by leaving my number/email for her with the daycare director, and now we've done a few playdates and birthday parties with plans for more coming up.

I recently moved and found a Luna Moms (it was started by the same people who do Stroller Strides) group here. Not all of their stuff (at least here) is during the weekday. I found them through meetup.com. I'm really looking forward to moving and getting involved with a parish again. We're only here at our current location for another 2 months, and the church here is HUGE and overwhelming (I feel lost honestly). While I didn't find any playgroups at the last church, I did meet one of my closest friends there who had no problems putting up with DS tagging along. Really hoping our next location has a smaller parish, because I find it a lot easier to get involved and meet people that way.
I haven't done MOPS, but heard it's a good group.

Thanks! Our new parish seems great (least from what I can see online), is right down the street, and most important has preschool programs. We have sadly not been involved in a parish where we are living now as we knew it was going to be short term, there were very few English services at times we could make, and they didn't have preschool programs or infant rooms etc. I am looking forward to getting involved once things get settled --maybe that way I could still meet moms even if I can't do the MOPS or similar programs.
