I just started charting this cycle and I have read all the basics, but can't seem to figure out if a temperature jump is normal day to day. I am on CD 7 and one day it will be 97.0 and the next will it will be 97.6, is that a jump or is that a normal range to stay in? I temp every morning about the same time before I get out of bed so I assume I am doing everything correctly??
TIA!
Hi and welcome to charting!
It is normal to have temps jumping around (at least for me it is) especially around the first 7-8 days of my cycle. My temps would vary quite a bit during AF and a couple days afterwards.
Also, most times your first month of charting may be a little wonky as you get used to it. Just remember to take your temp at the same time (like you already are), make sure it's the first thing you do in the morning before going to pee, taking a drink of water, even getting out of bed. Also, make sure you're getting at least 3-4 hours of uninterrupted sleep beforehand.
Don't worry if the temps look sporadic right now. They'll begin to make more of a pattern the further you get in your cycle.
Good luck!

Thanks Ladies. I'm just not sure how I will tell I ovulated with all these temp. jumps, but like you said, it should calm down and stay consistent soon. I get up several times a night with my son as he still doesn't STTN so maybe that affects my temp? Maybe charting isn't for me but thought I would give it a try.
My temps seem to be higher in the beg on the cycle then tend to even out then take a big jump after O. Somethings that might change the temp day to day is did you sleep with a fan or ac on one night an extra blanket the next? If i fall alseep with all the covers on it makes my temp bump up the next day
