BBT and Night Shift?

Hi all,
I work 12 hour night shifts at the hospital. Does anyone else work night shift that does BBTing? Any recommendations? Do you think it will work correctly for me?

I don't know anyone who has done it, so no help with real life experience. But I gess it's possible.... there's a section about it on fertilityfriend I think. Hopefully there will be good tips there....

I would try if I were you. Just try to get a good block of sleep (at least four hours or so) and temp when you wake up. I really hope it works! Good luck. Smile

I agree with Elizabeth, and Kristy is correct, there's a section on about it. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll see if I can find it for you. :goodluck:

I have the Taking Charge of Your Fertilty book which is the FAM method and there is a whole section on it. I always like to cross reference my material so you could check the TCOYF website too they have great material.

How can I chart my BBT if I work shifts?

It is not impossible to take your BBT if you work shifts, but it will be more challenging. Take your temperature at the time you wake up when you are most likely to have had the most sleep. Be as consistent as you can. On your days off, take your temperature after you wake up as well, even if it is at a different time. Make a note on your chart of changes in your waking schedule. You may take your temperature in the afternoon before you go to work if that is your usual waking time and the time after which you are most likely to have had the most sleep. It is not useful to take your temperature when you are already awake and active.

Thanks ladies!! I have started today. I also went on FF and stalked some charts that were specifically night shift. We will see how it works. After a month, I will see if some of you experts can check it out and tell me what you think!!
