Charter's Weekly Meeting! (Mon, Jan 2) ~ Our hubbies (SOs)!

Bringing leftover chocolate cake this time from my DH's birthday! And gotta have milk with the cake :) and, of course, coffee.

This weeks topic for discussion: Our hubbies (or SOs).

What is their reaction to your charting?
Do they know you chart? If so, how do they feel about it?
Do you tell them when you're about to ovulate, or do you just 'get all romantic' and leave them clueless?
Feel free to share any funny stories regarding charting and your hubbies/SOs.

My hubby thinks I'm crazy to chart. Mainly when my 6am alarm goes off on a sleep in day. He's a light sleeper so it's harder for him to get back to sleep.
I don't talk about it much because he thinks I'm obsessive about it. I guess thats why I'm on here. I don't share much about TTC with him because although he is on board he really gets weird about BD for a purpose. Like he is all gung ho when he doesn't think about TTC, but not if I say something about it. I dunno. Men.....

I know what you mean, Alison. My DH is the same way. When we were ttc, he knew I charted, but thought it was silly, and definitely didn't want to know when I got a +opk or when it was close to ovulation time (except once in awhile he'd want to know after the fact... maybe he wanted to know if his 'bullet' hit the target. LOL.).

My DH knows I chart. At first he thought I was nuts (and obsessive) about it. But, as he's seen how much information we've gotten from the process he's gotten much more supportive. He still doesn't want to know all of the details, but he'll ask where we're at right now, or what my temp did towards the end of the 2WW, etc. He's got the general gist of how my cycle goes, so even if I pretended I was just getting "amorous" he wouldn't buy it. ROFL

What is their reaction to your charting? At first he didn't understand much about it, but now he knows almost as much as I do!

Do they know you chart? If so, how do they feel about it? Yes! He encourages me to. He actually is the one who wakes me up and hands me the thermometer. I'm very lucky.

Do you tell them when you're about to ovulate, or do you just 'get all romantic' and leave them clueless? He pretty much knows. He doesn't care as long as he gets to BD lol.

My DH didn't get involved much until recently. He didn't ask or even want to know what I was doing. He would ask periodically "is it time" or "when will be time." Now he asks pretty regularly how things are going. I did have a little thermometer drama earlier in December and he bought me one of the fancy digital forehead swipe thermometers trying to make it easier for me. I thought that was really sweet!

He did however ask me not to take my thermometer on vacation...which I didn't hence the 3 day gap in my chart!

Hey... Smile I'm new over here. I may have posted once or twice, but don't think I've ever done an intro.

This topic made me want to respond because I'm so proud of my fiance'.

What is their reaction to your charting? He is so super supportive. Had never heard of charting before, but now he wants to know every little detail.

Do they know you chart? If so, how do they feel about it? Yes, he knows, and wants to be as involved as possible. He has a charting app on his phone, and I tell him my temp everyday. He also checks my CP, and reports that info to me.

Do you tell them when you're about to ovulate, or do you just 'get all romantic' and leave them clueless? He knows!

Feel free to share any funny stories regarding charting and your hubbies/SOs. I've got 2 stories... He is a computer programmer, and I've learned a few things here and there. I had created a ticker on countdown to preg, and wanted to rewrite the code so it would link to my ff chart (I like the look of countdowns tickers better, but like the ff chart). After I figured out how, I showed him ( I was proud!). He was proud too, but didn't want me to have to keep up with 2 charts. So he spent a couple days making a new website where eventually you'll be able to upload your own images, or select one and easily link it to a ff chart! ( you can actually check it out at the addy in my ticker)
And this story might be tmi,, so don't read on if you don't like ummm... details? lol... last night we were dtd, and when he came, he stayed shallow (opposite of what he usually does) I started to question him, and he simply said "girl". We have been researching gender swaying. He paid attention to me getting close to O day and wanted to give the "girls" a better chance. I love this guy! SmileSmile

I'm new to the charting board, but I was dying to get in on this chat!

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one! This is my first cycle charting in about a year. The first time I charted, it was to prevent, and DF thought I was INSANE. I felt really uncomfortable, like I had to hide what I was doing, so it got old, fast, and I stopped charting all together.

NOW: We're going to be ready to start trying in May/June, and he had testicular cancer this year (cancer-free now!). Naturally, we took care of him first, and once we found out that he'd be okay our concern turned to fertility. We had everything lined up that if he had to have both testicles removed, that his first stop would be to the fertility clinic to "make a donation". Ever since, he's been a lot more interested in anything related to fertility. When I told him that charting would really help us when the time came that we were ready to try, he asked more questions, and found a way to get involved. I pretty much wake up with a thermometer already in my mouth, and he texts me the reading for me to plug into FF. I'm way too sleepy in the morning to remember to do it, let alone remember the temperature!

He actually wants to see what the chart looks like after a full cycle. I love my man.

Here's hoping that this works to our advantage, because I'm really crossing my fingers for a March/April 2013 baby!

Welcome, newbies Biggrin

I think that is so awesome that some of your DHs who are so supportive of your charting. I'm going to tell my DH about it and see what he says. Can't WAIT to see his reaction when I tell him that some husbands actually take their wife's temp for them. Smile

Oh hey! Thank you! What a year, so glad that 2011 has come and gone.

That's awesome that you have a charting supporter too, makes life easier, huh?
