What's everyone up to today? My Honda mini-van conked back out several times when I tried to start it again after getting gas at the gas station this morning. I revved it up a little and then it was okay after that. Wonder if I was lower on gas than I realized? LOL. Maybe it's time for a tune-up.
And while I was there, I scanned my Daily's Rewards card on the scanner to check my rewards status and won a free 32 oz. Powerade AND a free car wash! :yahoo: I had been waiting for the free car wash, guess I've been a member long enough now to have finally won one :D
Hope your van is ok. That would have worried me, I am weirdo about my cars acting funny.
WOOHOO for a free car wash. Both our cars need one. DH said the kids could do it, but I nixed it since I would have to re-do it. I wasn't feeling friendly when he brought it up.
I got off to a rough start with DH this morning and was being bitter I drove 4 hours to deal with him. Its a definite journal writing day to get it all out and hopefully start fresh.
Thanks, Kim. It seems to be fine now, no problems with it starting when I went to pick up my DD from school. I think for the first time in my entire life I was lower on gas than I realized. No wait, 2nd time in my life. There was one time I was trying to make it somewhere on time and was pushing it with the gas gauge and the gas gauge won and I wound up on the side of the road. Thankfully a nice gentleman stopped and helped me by going to get some gas for me in a gas can. After that, I vowed never to "push it" again, but this morning I thought I had more gas than I actually did so I didn't allow enough time to stop on the way to my DD's school and had to wait until afterward. Then my phone rang just as I was driving up to the gas station so I sat there with the a/c running talking away and I bet it sucked up even more gas.
Sorry to hear things didn't go well with your DH this morning. Want me to come slap him upside the head for you? :p
MaryGlad to hear your van is doing better! Problems with my van freak me out.
KimHi. :) I'm sorry about the frustrations with your DH. I hate when that happens. Nothing puts me in a more sour mood. DH and I had an argument the other night and he had to leave for a meeting so I had to put the kids to bed and go to sleep myself without resolving it. Drives me bonkers.
AFM, We are finally having nice weather. I am so excited. :) We have green grass and flowers blooming. After the long, dreary winter it's so nice.
This seems like a good place to come out of lurkdom. :-) I'm glad to "see" all of you again. DH and I took this month off to get our heads back together and to decide what we really wanted to do from here. We are going on our own for the next 2 months, then IVF in August.
The good - I've been working on dropping a few pounds before we do IVF. So far down 27lbs!
The bad - Day one of AF...and she's kicking my butt already.
The ugly - The dinner I left cooking in my crockpot for tonight. Was trying for pulled BBQ chicken. Came home to chicken-shaped hockey pucks cajun-style. ;-) Translation - blackened. *sigh* Mushroom ravioli it is!
Jean- It's so good to hear from you! I've really missed you girls. I can't believe what you've been through the past few months. I hope the next couple months are nice and peaceful before you gear up for IVF. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Mary, sorry about your van/gas trouble....I hate when that happens! I ran out of gas just once in my life and it was when I was 14 and snuck out. Oops....boy, I was in TROUBLE. So, now I just fill up my tank as soon as it gets down to quarter tank...lol. Woohoo for a free powerade and car wash!!! :D
Kim, I'm sorry about the rough start with DH. I hope all is okay now. It looks like you O'd and your BD timing is perfect and I hope your temp stays up. Fingers and toes crossed for you!!
Elizabeth, yay for nice weather! I LOVE spring time! :D
Jean, Good luck with IVF! It is an intense yet exciting journey! Are you doing PGD? Yay for 27 lb. loss! :yahoo:
AFM, I'm freaking hungry...what's for breakfast everyone?
Jean!!! :bigarmhug: So good to "see" you. So sorry about your CP in April :bigarmhug: Best wishes to you for IVF success, or even 'natural' success before then! I laughed at your hockey pucks description. I'm sure it wasn't funny when you found them, though! How frustrating. What's mushroom ravioli? Is that canned ravioli with cream of mushroom soup added in? I've never tried that, sounds interesting :)
Elizabeth ~ yay for nicer weather!
Jina ~ I had a strawberry pop tart for breakfast, lol. At least it was the low fat, whole grain kind. Then for a mid-morning snack I had 1/2 banana and a cup of milk. What did you wind up having?
Elizabeth - Hi to you too! I've missed chatting with everybody around here. I've been lurking now and then, but mostly just needed to really get my mind away from things for a bit. It's definitely been a challenging year, but I'm in a better place with things now.
Jina - It's been such a good month on the IVF board, I'm hoping it's catching. :-D After some very extensive discussion, DH and I decided we are NOT going to do the PGD. We've been really uncomfortable with that much "intervention" ever since we had to sign pages and pages of paperwork saying that we understood all the bad things that could happen. But, we figured it was worth it so that we could finally get some answers. Then there have a been a few studies recently talking about some potential issues with ICSI and birth defects....at that point our brains just started spinning completely!!!! Our clinic will not do PGD without ICSI and we just keep wondering if we're potentially causing more problems in our attempt to solve the first one. We talked about it many times, and I prayed about it a whole lot. In the end, we decided just regular IVF without any other "tampering", and I feel MUCH more comfortable with that decision. So, on we go.
BTW- Apple Cinnamon cereal bar and a pineapple greek yogurt for breakfast for me.
Mary - Yeah, I wasn't too thrilled about my chicken catastrophe yesterday, but it's much more amusing now. :-) The mushroom ravioli I use I get from BJ's in their refrigerated pasta area. Organic...can't remember the brand, mushroom filling in a regular pasta shell. We keep some frozen all the time for a quick dinner. I just boil them up, add a little olive oil, salt, pepper, italian seasoning and some grated parmesan over them. Yummy, quick dinner that makes DH happy. (Oh, a salad on the side, too!)
Hi Kim! I hope your day went more smoothly today.
AFM - Pretty good day today. The school year is starting to wind down, which is nice. Tonight I was really good...roasted some zucchini and summer squash slices in the oven with some lemon pepper seasoning, made up a little sauce with a little olive oil, lemon juice, s & p, onion and garlic...then mixed it all up with some egg noodles! Nice big pile of food with not too many calories. :-) And strawberries for dessert, after my walk. It's so much easier (and cheaper) to eat healthy up here at this time of the year!
Jean - your food sounds yummy!
I went and cleaned for my MIL today and she also needed me to help her move a dresser from one room to another. So we got everything ready, got ready to move it, and it wouldn't budge. Looked behind it, and it was anchored to the wall! Called DH, and he stopped on his way home to remove the anchor and help us move it.
We had a pretty bad thunderstorm come through, too, but thankfully it didn't last long, though the rain did last awhile. After the tropical storm, and the thunderstorm today, I think we should be pretty well caught up on our rain deficit :)
Dinner for us tonight was beef stew and biscuits. YUM.
