Hello..

Hello. My name is Kim. I have been visiting this site for a few weeks now and I have to say that from what I have been reading the support here appears to be great. Im 39 and ttc again. I started clomid for the 1st time this month and have mixed feelings about it. Maybe because Im nervous/anxious:eek:. I have an appt with my OB on the 28th and hoping that he can possibly tell me what I did wrong with the OPKs:confused:. Im looking forward to getting to know the ladies on this board and hoping that I will be accepted.

Wishing all of the ladies good luck on their journeys.

How long are your cycles?
What days are you using opks?
What time of the day do you wake up - and then when do you use your OPKs? If you're a morning riser, its recommended to do an OPK just after lunch. I however work nights so its the opposite for me Wink

Do you monitor your CM (cervical mucus) or cervical position? Those can also help in determining your ovulation Smile

My cycles vary between 28-31 days and I was using them starting on day 8 of my cycle(I kinda lost the instructions my dr gave me). I work days. From what you just stated it appears that I was using them at the wrong time and on the wrong days. I do monitor my cervical mucus but its a little hard for me to monitor the cervical position because my uterus is tilted down quite a bit. I think I may have to go another round because of the mess up. Thanks so much for responding to my post. I can use all of the help I can get.:)

If you're 28-31 days, you *probably* ovulate sometime in the 12-18 day range, which if it were me I would probably start testing once a day at day 8 and then switch to twice a day as they get darker. Testing around 1 or 2pm and then a second in the evening 6 or 7pm. I cant speak for experience on everyone because we got pregnant on our first actual cycle that I O'd but I got EWCM 2 days before the day I O'd.

One other thing to keep in mind too is when you DO get a positive OPK, you ovulate 12-24 hours after that positive Smile

Here's a link to my chart, i put in all my tests so maybe that might help you? http://www.fertilityfriend.com/ttc/chartgraph_module.php?d=2010-04-29

I just did my first clomid cycle and got a bfp. I took the clomid on days 5-9 (have never heard of day Dirol and I ovulated on cd 17. There is a ovulation calculator online for people that used clomid that would be able to help you. It will tell you when to start using OPK and give you a window of your most fertile days according to when you used clomid. I think I started the OPK's around cd 12 and took them around 12pm to
2pm. If I saw that it was almost positive I took it again around 6 BUT you have to make sure that you hold your pee and don't drink alot the 2 hours before you take the tests. With that calculator even if you screw up the opk you at least have an idea of when you should O.

Thanks so much ladies. All of this information is really, really helpful. Im going to write this down. Which site is it that I go to for the OPK info? Would it be fertility friend as well?

Congratulations to both of you on your bfps. I hope to get one soon myself.

I use the following clomid ovulation calculator for the past 8 months while on Clomid
http://babymed.com/Tools/fertility/clomid/

I too have CM 2 days prior to +OPK
I personally test at 2pm and then again at 6pm -- I use Clearblue OPKS as the fertility clinic that I go to was VERY clear that they did not accept the other tests to be accurate with Clomid. The two blue line ones - not the digital. You may not get a +OPK due to your body not kicking an egg out - it may get excited but does not actually follow through - this is what has been happening to me.
