On to IUI

Saw the RE nurse today to learn how to use the injectables. The DR gave me Gonal-f RFF Pen using 75 IU a day starting CD3. I go in next tue morning to have a utlrasound and bloodwork to see how the eggs are coming along OR if they are coming along. If all goes well we will be having an IUI this cycle. I had bad cramping with clomid 100mg when I did ovulate but we didn't catch that egg.

Hi Christina,

I am doing injections w/ IUI this month - well I was until they cancelled due to follies not growing. Start again next month at a higher dose
I was advised that if they cancel the first month to not worry because they need to find your correct dose -- they will increase after every u/s b/w visit to a point and that's it.

Did you do IUI with Clomid at all?

I REALLY hope that you get to go thru with the IUI and that it works the first time for you! Smile

Ok just got done with the first shot. The shot itself wasn't bad at all, very small needle. It's the side effects that I'm worried about. I already drive like a bat outa he** lol. I just did clomid for the first month since starting infertility treatments after finding out I only have one working tube. The RE said I could do 3 cycles of clomid OR I could go straight to IUI. I decided to try clomid for at least one cycle to see how it would effect me. I did have some side effects but it wasn't horrible. We didn't get pregnant with the oral drug so now it's on to IUI with injectables. I have an apt tue morning for an ultrasound and bloodwork to see how follies are growing. If they are growing, they will keep me on 75 IU but following me closely. If they aren't, they will up my dose.

That first shot is the worst because you really don't know what to expect and if there is fear there then it is hard to just get stuck in....but once it's done it's not that bad - I found myself laughing at myself for getting so wound up to stick it in. LOL!
I don't think you should be too worried about the side effects .... I believe that Clomid is a lot harder to deal with. It's great that your RE started you so quickly on injections and IUI - mine had me go thru a year of Clomid w/ BD, then a year of Clomid w/ IUI and now this year we are doing injections w/ IUI -- hopefully it is not a repeat and we get a sticky BFP and it does not take the whole year. I think the injections are better too because (where I'm from at least) there is monitoring of follies unlike with Clomid.

I hope your follies grow, grOW, GROW and you get a couple mature eggies for those swimmers to catch! Smile
