Researching Clomid Options

Hello Ladies,

This is my first post on the Clomid Board. I'm about to start my research and though I would start here. Let me give u a background on me.

I'm Mandie, married to DH for 7 years. Tried for BFP for 2 years and then used IVF to concieve DS (21 months old). DH was diagnosed low sperm count for undesended testie. During all of the testing phase's of IVF he had sperm count btwn 3 and 5 million. The day of IVF he had a Perfect Sperm count of 21 million. I'm believe I'm a unexplained fertility problems. I have always had cycles all over the place 32-70 days.

I had my annual Pap with my OB/GYN (who is different from my IVF Doc). He thought maybe we could at least try clomid and if it doesn't work then we just go onto our 2nd round of IVF.

What kind of side effects am I looking at? Any tips? I think we are going to try it with my cycle in May or June. We are going to Disney World early May and I don't want to have to deal with Clomid or pregnancy's in Disney.

Thanks so much for any input. I look forward to getting to know some new people.

Welcome to the board Mandi. I hope your stay is short.

As for side effects expect hot flashes, mood swings, and headaches. In order to avoid some of them, I took them at night. That way you sleep through a lot of them. Good luck

I ditto what she said. I took mine in the evening. After going from Clomid 100mg from CD3-5 to Gonal-F for IUI, I will take injectables any day. I had more side affects from clomid. I got hot flashes, dried up down below and have light mood swings. But with that said, everyone is different. Just because it didn't work for me, doesn't mean it won't work for you. I wish you luck!

Oh yes, Christina, I forgot about drying up down below. I had to use preseed to help out.

I had all of the above-mentioned side effects, plus the last half of my cycle I have all the pregnancy symptoms (even though I'm not preggo) such as nausea, cravings, insomnia, swollen sore boobs, swollen abdomen, peeing frequently, fatigue, etc. The irritability is the worst side effect for me! But it's ALL worth it if it ends in pregnancy. Smile Took several cycles before we conceived DS1 on Clomid, but it did eventually work for us, and now we're trying again.
