As an obstetrician...I have heard this....and so here's the rationale in laypeople's terms...robitussin is taken to break up mucous and thin it out...that applies to all kinds of mucous-including cervical mucous. One of the body's natural birth control mechanism is to thicken cervical mucous to keep the sperm from getting through...so if you take robitussin-thin out the cervical mucous...the little swimmers can swim and get to the egg!!) Good luck with your pregnancy.

I was told to get the syrup form with guaifenesin as the only active ingrediant, no DM or anything like that added to it since that can have the opposite effect ( =

My OB suggested the same thing with my clomid cycles, it seems to help. If you don't like the taste of Robitussin or would rather just take a pill mucinex is the same thing. That's what I've done in the past and will do again cause I have the worst time getting Robitussin down...blech. Either way you still have to be sure to drink plenty of water for it to really be effective. Good luck!

Thanks for the water tip!! I am not a big water drinker and never really correlated that with TTC but obviously it makes sense that water would help!!!! ( = So I have been gulping it down lately!!

hi there! just take the regular robitussin! a few times a day! it really worked for me Smile if you don't like robitussin (i didn't have that problem. i love that stuff) you can take mucinex. again, just the regular kind. the only active ingredient should be guafesin (that is completely spelled wrong, suffice to say it starts with a "g").

good luck!
