Thread: Starting Clomid for the first time!!!!

After a visit to the gyno yesterday we are going to begin our first round of clomid! I am really nervous about what to expect but really excited and hopeful............Any weird side effects I should know about other than the hot flashes and leg cramps???? Thanks so much!! Hope you all catch a baby eggy this month!!!!

I'm thinking of asking the doctor for this pill. I seriously think I am not ovulating even though I am getting my period. My period was late this cycle which is really odd for me. But I am under a lot of stress and it just getting worse. I know stress can cause you not to ovulate. I am not sure a doctor would scrib this since I do get a period. We are BD right when I am getting positive OTK and after, we aren't catching the eggy. Any thoughts ladies?

I have only done 2 rounds so far and I did not have any side effects on a 50mg pill. They actually helped me sleep better. I think everyone is different! Hope you catch the egg!!

I am starting clomid again today. When I took it to help with my first the only side effect I noticed was the hot flashes, they were pretty killer for me. Dress in layers!!! DH said I had some crazy mood swings too... I didnt notice those as much but I took his word for it lol Good luck!

I wish the gyno would've put me on this since I haven't been ovulating regularly for a long time, but she wanted me to wait a year before putting me on it. I'm still unsure about this doctor; only been to her twice and as she doesn't seem to spend a lot of time with me--last time I was there I was in and out in less than five minutes once she came in (and she did a full exam too). I suppose it's ok that she wants to wait though--I don't really want to go on any more meds but if my body's not ovulating but like two or three times A YEAR...well, what other choice is there?

Has anyone taken prometrium??? I was given it to jump-start my period but I am worried about the side effects. Might sound funny, but I am afraid of it making me break-out or something like that.............

I am on prometrium but honestly it has not done it's job I have not had a period since Jan of this year and now 10 months later nothing, but I was on depo so it might be different this is my 7th round of the prometrium. I have not had any side effects or anything.

Christina, I also get AF every month almost exactly 28 days on the dot. i do not ovulate thou, so there is a possibility that you could be one of the unusual ones like me. My doctor still cant figure out how this is possible, but they have done all the tests and I definately dont O on my own. So he just put me back on clomid again. It is a possibility! HTH

Thank you for your support ladies. I am at the end of my rope with this TTC. I am now temping and using the OPK. I had a early miscarriage in june but haven't been able to get pregnant again since. I would think that has much as we BD, something would have caught lol. I told my mother that because of stress I think I'm not actually releasing an egg. I have read that can happen. I contacted my doctor to see if I can get a refer to see a doctor to see what they might think.

All I have to say, is that whoever said baby-making is fun - wasn't on clomid!! I did 3 rounds with my first, 4 rounds with my 2nd baby and now I'm getting ready to start round 3 on #3. Terribly cranky and bad hot flashes.

I'm really sorry about your miscarriage. I had a miscarriage my first pregnancy at 3 months. My dr. told me it could take a bit for my body to get back to normal. I wouldn't be too concerned yet.
