Best diaper for chunky thighs?

So it is time for me to get some new diapers! I am excited, I get to go shopping Biggrin (I am hoping not to spend too much money though, because I was a bit foolish in setting up my stash. I bought the Bummis newborn prefolds pack, not realizing they go to 9lbs max, and my LO was 8 lbs 5 oz at birth haha. She never wore them :o Then I bough 6 fitted diapers and a few covers after being told they would fit to 9 months. Well I think I was given bad info, because I looked them up online and the manufacturer says they go to 15 lbs. My LO is two months but 13 lbs already. Sigh!!!!! What a waste!!!!)

Anyway I really love pockets, and some AIO's. I have six pockets and two AIO'S (Tots Bots...I think they are really more like pockets though because the insert comes out but is attached to the diaper and you can stuff additional layers if needed). Now that my supply of fitteds is going to be outgrown soon, I will be down to 8 diapers. I am thinking of buying an additional 16-20 diapers, does that sound about right if I'm going to wash every 2 days? And what are everyone's current favourite pockets/AIO's for babies with chunky thighs but a smaller waist? I have been looking at Kawaiis, Sunbabies, Bumgenius, and Goodmamas (I want lots of those even though they are fitteds because they are SO cute, but man they are expensive!!!!). But I am open to any and all suggestions Smile

I have 12 Sunbabies and I have to wash daily and supplement with prefolds. I just ordered 12 more, so I am hoping that will be plenty for me to be able to wash every other day. One thing I like about Sunbabies is that they are adjustable at the leg. I don't know if other diapers are like that or not, but Evelyn has skinny thighs and I like that I can adjust them smaller. I have 3 BG OS and they leak because they are too big on her thighs. Happy shopping! I love buying new diapers!!!!

It seems you have my variety of baby! We used prefolds exclusively until DD was almost a year and by then she'd slimmed waay down. She was 20 lbs at 3 months and just 22 lbs at one year. When we started using pockets, she still had mega chunker thighs (still does) though. We have a few Sunbabies and a few Kawaiis. The Sunbabies work great and the Kawaiis are OK. The Kawaiis leave read marks on her thighs but are otherwise OK. I imagine the Sunbabies would work just as well on a smaller chunkster. The hip snap is great for adjusting to your baby's chunkiness.

Wow 20lbs at 3 months! I feel like my baby will be there in no time too. Then I look at my friend's 25 lb 2 year old! Love all the shapes and sizes kids come in...especially roly poly babies Smile

We have problems with red marks too, so I will try the Sunbabies before Kawaiis. Thanks!

I know this thread is a few days old, but if you're still looking for diapers, I recommend SoftBums. They have adjustable elastic in the legs, so you can make them whatever size you need. I started using them about a year ago because my daughter had chunky thighs but a small waist, and she started outgrowing her fitted diapers, but other one-sized diapers were too big and bulky. Her body is more proportionate now, but because of the infinite adjustability of the legs, they still fit perfectly. Plus, with Softbums, the insert snaps in, so you can re-use the shell a couple of times.

Thanks!! I have ordered a few Kawaiis and Sunbabies to try, but will still need more so if I don't like either, I will check out SoftBums Smile
