Bah. I spoke too soon. Although the diapers looked/smelled clean, DD was CRYING asking me to take the diaper off saying, "It hurts! It hurts!"Totally fighting diaper changes. And her bum/girl parts were all red...so, she was I guess at least having some rash if not burn from them.

So, I'm stripping with Dawn right now and she's back in sposies. And, um, I put in a lot of Dawn...the whole door of the washer is white with suds now- like you can't even see the diapers inside, except when one falls against the door. I'll be doing a LOT of rinsing. But God help me, this better work!!!

I hope this works for you.I'm thinking there's still something in the diapers and once sorted through the CC will do well for you.
When we were still in Laos and didn't have access to any of these other stripping agents, I was bleaching almost with every wash. SO yeah.... we've done bleach.
My parents super-high tech machine is showing a message "sud"- I'm assuming that means like, "ridiculous amount of suds in machine"- which there are. They better be doing their job! The good thing is it also keeps lighting up "sensing" which I guess means it will just keep rinsing until it thinks the suds are gone... and then *I* will keep rinsing for like two days after that.![]()
Wish me luck. My dad was like, "You put DISH SOAP in the WASHER?" I guess you hear about how dish soap can ruin dish washers, right... so he almost freaked on me. But I was like, "NO THIS IS SAFE." Lord almighty, I hope it's true! DH and I were just discussing how money is so tight we can't really afford to replace our baby monitor which broke recently...so having to buy my parents a new washer is NOT on my list of things I'd like to do with money I don't have.![]()

OMG...seriously, kill me now. After rinsing, rinsing, rinsing for almost a full 24 hours, I let the house this afternoon after turning on the washer for one more soap free long wash cycle (figuring it would be a lot like one long rinse, yeah?). So... I just went to see what was up with the diapers, whether or not they were in the washer still... and they are in the dryer.... dry... WITH TWO DRYER SHEETS. KILL. ME. NOW.
So what do you reckon... will that have undone all the good a strip did? Obviously, it's my own fault, I need to tell my parents that if they ever transfer diapers for me, that they cannot ever put anything in with them... but what now???So sad. So, so sad.
What do I do? Anything? Just try them and see how they go?

Oy. I have no idea how big a disaster that is because we don't use any fabric softener. I wouldn't jump to re-stripping right away. You'll know soon enough if you'll have to re-do it. Also, since your parents use fabric softener sheets you might have to start wiping out the dryer before you dry your diapers to keep the residue from coming off onto them.
When I was staying with my ILs for a few days in February, my FIL added a dryer sheet behind my back! It really upset me, but in the end it didn't affect the diapers. I think repeated use would be rather harmful, but one time use didn't seem to impact them enough for me to notice. So I wouldn't panic, I'd just use them as is.
My mom got all offended the first time I did diapers in her house and I cleaned out her washer before doing my diapers. They love their fabric softener! *sigh*
Considering we don't use either dryer sheets or fabric softener period with our regular laundry, I don't get the need that most people seem to have to use it. We don't have static cling at all and everything is still soft!
