Good news on getting ammonia stink out!
Well, I finally got around to doing something about my super stinky diapers. The ammonia was so strong that I could literally smell DD when we were still in bed in the morning-through her pjs- maybe even through the blankets. And taking a diaper off? Holy cow! I was definitely worried she'd start getting ammonia rashes/burns again.
Well, anyway, I finally got my hands on some bleach- not fully color safe, so a few things are a little discolored now- but, I soaked a dirty load of dipes over night in bleach, and then spent a good 24 hours rinsing them. I couldn't fully get the bleach smell out when they were still wet, but I seriously couldn't fathom rinsing them anymore. The good news is this morning, I actually managed to take a full wiff of DD's wet dipe and pretty much couldn't smell anything. Yay!
So, I soaked the other half of our dipes last night over night, and am rinsing them today.
It will be interesting to see how long it lasts. But the good thing is I know what to do, if it happens again.
I just finished one bag of Rockin Green detergent, and I have a bag of BumGenius detergent, so I'm going to use the BG stuff now, and see if that washes any better here in Laos than the RG was doing!
