Seriously, that's a great idea--do you have Freecycle there? That's where we posted our old top loader when we upgraded. People are mostly just happy to get rid of them, but they're perfect for diapers! (Unless they break with a full load of poop in them...I don't know if DH will ever quite get over that experience.)

The thing with the TL is you can always add more water to it yourself if you have to. If nothing else I seriously doubt if you'll have to do 3 washes!!!
We got our dryer off of a local sale site for $60.
