I love cloth diapers. I want to cloth diaper! But I am so frustrated with constant leaks. All of a sudden, we are having leaks all day long. Almost every diaper. It might happen when I'm out and she is in a diaper for 2 to 3 hours. It's happened after her being in a diaper for 30 minutes.
At first I though it was just the Kawaii's but I use those the most so I think I was mistaken. Today it was our FB's OS. I don't use our BG's as much b/c she gets rashes so easy and it seems to happen faster with those... but rashes are a whole other issue.
It seems like Jordan is just peeing a TON and her diapers can't keep up. Even when I use a hemp insert with a doubler. It's leaking through the diaper so it's not a repelling issue. I carry her on my hip and my shirt is wet. Tonight she was on my lap and my shorts were wet. I get her out of her car seat and the seat is wet. The cart cover gets wet... You get the idea.
I've stripped with Dawn and Calgon. Just in case, but it didn't change anything.
She is also getting really bad rashes somewhat regularly. I dont' own any cloth diaper safe cream. I know, I know, I should. I just worried about it causing issues so I have never ordered any. I just put her in a sposie and use Desitin when she gets a rash.
Seriously, what do I do? Do I just need to try do PLing already? I really don't feel like she is ready but I am so incredibly frustrated. I don't want to give up but I just want to throw in the towel and not deal with the constant leaks.
Oh man, I basically have no advice, but I know how frustrated you are!! This is me with the stink issues... They are never ending for me, and the ammonia in the morning is so strong I can smell it through the blankets and pjs...and then changing her makes my head spin. So I have no advice, but I get your frustration!!!

You have mostly microfiber right? Maybe you're getting compression leaks? I've read that could happen with them. Especially since toddler pee comes out with force and a lot at a time.
I wonder if I can find anything else. . . .
And buy yourself some CD cream. lol
Man, do I feel you...we are STILL in sposies, even though I bought cloth safe ointment, because I haven't had time to deal with the laundry issue (too easy to put on the back burner once it's not do-it-or-have-pee-on-the-floor....) But I still want to be a cloth diaper family! I guess I'm also just feeling like it's going to be one more letdown, since I went through so many, and procrastinating is keeping the hope alive. SIGH.
PS The Earth Mama Angel Baby ointment is really great, I must say.
For diaper cream, you can absolutely trust Angel Baby Bottom Balm. Its all I've ever used, it works magic on mild diaper rash, and it washes completely clean.
I thought they were just just compression leaks but since I've had leaks with hemp, I'm not sure that is the only issue. I do think compression leaks are part of the problem though.
I did try drying them on medium or regular a while back. But as I was drying them I read on the Planet Wise site that the whole drying PUL thing is a myth. :/ I cannot remember what Kawaii's drying instructions are but they have TPU which I know is a little different than the typical PUL. I have been in contact with Kawaii but they refuse to call me and they take days to respond to my emails so it's been an arduous process just trying to trouble shoot with them. It's ANNOYING me.
I checked the inserts and they are absorbing very well.
I just want to and
I went through something similar for a while with DD1 and did find some solutions for out and about. First, of course you should strip the dipes and dry with heat to reseal. It sounds like you already did that. Make sure you aren't using any onesies or constrictive clothing. My DD had a particular time of day that she peed like a fire hose so I did double hemp and a regular mf insert for that time of day if we were going to be out and about. Put the mf closer to her body and the hemp further away since hemp absorbs volume but mf absorbs quickly. Finally, the most helpful thing was to put my DD in fleece pants when we went out. It seriously decreased her wardrobe, but it helped tremendously. She eventually didn't fire hose as much and I was then able to put her in regular pants again (right in time for summer). Also, I did GMs and a cover or wool pants sometimes and they were awesome and we had no leaking issues, just not as affordable for me at the time since I had a whole stash of pockets.
Good luck! I have friends who have the same troubles with disposables with heavy wetters so it isn't entirely a cloth problem.
I agree with Andrea. I don't think it's entirely a cloth problem. I think it sounds like she's holding her urine longer, and when she does go, she goes so much that the diaper can't keep up.
We were at an anniversary party earlier this year and I literally changed Miles' (disposable) diaper 2 minutes before we left for the party. We walked to the party, sat down to eat, and he peed. So much so fast my shorts were soaked because he was sitting on my lap. I had to go home to change. That all happened within 10 minutes time.
When were you thinking of starting to potty train? I know girls are typically easier to train than boys, maybe it's time to think about that soon?
