Laundromat Washing (added flats questions)

Anyone ever BTDT? Just wondering if anyone has any experience or helpful hints. Meant to post about this earlier, but I've lost my mind the past two weeks as our military move has turned into a nightmare. We're spending the next 3 months living....well, I don't know where yet....and will be in a shared laundry situation, more than likely laundromats.

I've been having to washing Aiden's diapers in a top loading HE machine this week since we've already moved out of our house (it's what the temp lodging facility has at this base) and I'm already having issues with smell despite using HE detergent. *sigh*

These should rinse out better and quicker than all my pockets and such right? So less worry about buildup? I'm wondering if I should invest in more flats (we have 6 swaddlebee flats right now) and use those over the next 3 months. I can always use them with the next baby since I have no newborn diapers.
Anyone know of any flats that are easy to find other than Gerber at Walmart? lol.
Think I could get away with less washes since they're flats? I was thinking I'd have to do a cold wash, hot wash with detergent, and then another cold wash to rinse with my regular stash. And at $1.50 a wash that adds up. :p

You just use All Free & Clear, don't you? If its not clean rinsing, I don't think you have so much to worry about. Maybe you can get a bit of clean rinsing detergent and just wash a load of towels with it before you wash your dipes as you normally would. Or, make a solution of clean-rinsing detergent and water and use that to clean out a machine before you use it. That will get the crud off.

We use All for our clothes and crunchy clean for diapers. Though I used All this past week since I wasn't sure about CC and the HE washer (we have to buy HE All for DHs uniforms so we always have that around).

I'm gonna give it a try once we move into an apartment, but I'm worried! Lol

Why not get a dozen of these flats? Its the same brand as my prefolds and they rock pretty hardcore. I have like 6 of them actually that I'd be happy to send you. I've never used them and I don't really ever see myself using them. I've got diapers coming out my ears.

PM me an address to send them to and I'll put them in the mail today. I'm going to the post office today anyway. I have 6. I'm actually not 100% sure they came from Green Mountain since I got them second hand but they look similar and good quality.

I use flats and mine are a bit different to the ones Erin posted as they are a towel material, but they stand up to any abuse you give them.. Mine are second hand and this is the second baby they have been used on and before Ronin they were wet pailed in nappisan every time they were used. Our local hospital also uses flats in the maternity ward, the same kind I do because they can be washed at such a high heat and sanitised easily.
