New to board and cloth diapering

I am new to cloth diapering, just started yesterday actually, and have some questions. I have some all-in-ones that were given to me but I just got some prefolds as well. I have no covers for the prefolds! I am looking at the one size covers so that I don't have to buy different sizes. My baby is about 15lbs. I need the cheapest way possible of buying them. I am looking at ebay but have no clue if their cheap covers are worth it. But I really can't afford anything over a couple dollars a piece. So any and all help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Remember with prefolds, you can often reuse the cover as long as it's not dirty with poop. You probably only need 2 covers at most right now. Usually I use a cover over a prefold, next change get a new prefold and let cover #1 air dry and use cover #2, and then following change use cover #1 and let #2 dry. When I do a load I wash the covers. They can easily be hand washed if need be!
Kawaii covers are cheap and do work. They're not the best ever (no inner gusset and won't last till PTing size wise), but they worked fine for me when I started off CDing DS at 16 lbs.
Econobums are also cheap. They're a generous sized cover, so definitely doesn't work with tiny babies but you're beyond that stage now!
If you see them on ebay great, but they're also easy to find on a few online diaper stores (usually between $6-$9 a cover) with free shipping. I think JackBeNatural has a 5% off code right now that might work on Kawaii.

I have a few that will work for right now thank goodness but I am looking at the kawaii's. My 4 year old is still not even hit 30lbs yet and his 2 year old brother is about 23-25lbs right now. I have super small kids. lol. So most diapers will probably last my kids until potty training. I also just bought a couple from a friend as well, a thirstie and a swaddlebees for $10. Should be enough for me to figure out of I will enjoy cloth diapering or not. Smile

Oh yes, you're good! I usually only keep 4 "one size" covers around at most for us and find that they don't all get used by laundry day with just the one kid in them. Blueberry is still on the middle rise setting for us at 26/27ish lbs and 23 months. Kawaii would be on the largest setting for us and is a tad short for my liking (have passed mine on) but my kiddo has a long torso (and really short legs lol).

Happy cloth diapering! Hope it works out well for you. Smile

I just recently started CDing DS about 2 months ago and I love it. I'm kicking myself for not doing it when I felt like I wanted to with DD. I've always wanted to CD as I've always believed it to be better, but the fear of the extra work kept me away. It's not without a learning curve and a few frustrations in the beginning.

I'd love to hear how you like the AIO's as I've not gotten any of those. I'm loving pockets with the charcoal inserts best right now.

So far I have really enjoyed the AIO's. I don't like them so much for night time because they are harder to stuff enough to hold all the pee for 6 hour stretch. My hubby prefers them the best because it is less steps that he has to do. I only have small AIO's and they are getting small on him so I will be switching to prefolds soon.

Have you looked into buying used? diaperswappers.com might be a place you could find some good deals. FWIW, I love Thirsties covers.

I looked into diaperswappers but the site confuses the heck out of me and the ones I found that people were selling I might as well buy new because they weren't asking much less from the new ones, for something that was obviously well used, at least by looking at the pictures. Beee I did find Kawiia's for $7 on one site though so I am looking at those but still keeping my eyes open for other used covers.

Yeah, some people post good deals, some don't. Some are also open to offers so I usually try offering a little less and many accept or counter offer. You can also look for used on facebook cloth swap/fsot pages. You may find better deals there!
