Still here update on me with ?

I know I have been MIA for a while. It's been a crazy few months to be sure. Around the middle of Sept Alaina started refusing to nurse next to Aiden. So I was back to spending nearly an hr every time I nursed them, since it had to be done separately. That's also about the time I started feeding them 3 sold meals a day. It took a while to adjust to their new schedule. And out of the blue they started waking up a few times a night. It made for one tired mommy.

Then it was the holidays, and-- their first birthday! Smile

Now things are starting to settle into a new routine. But we are going to be moving in a month. So that means lots of packing, and an entirely new schedule to come up with..... Fun, fun, fun.

But I am still here, and still cding FT. I have switched my entire stash over to Sunbaby diapers, except for one Kawaii with a bamboo insert. In September she started making them bigger. And starting this print release there are the 2 sizes. The older, smaller "OS" from around May, and now a newer, larger "OS". A&A still have chunky thighs, so I'm excited about the larger size. They fit them well and will last us through potty training with no sizing problems I'm sure. OH, and she is working out logistics on bamboo inserts! She's just made some and will be including a few in the orders as a way of getting feedback as to how well they work and such. And you can now order only 6 from the website, with or without inserts. I got rid of my hemp inserts that I have been battling stink issues with since May and been using Zorb II inserts at night. I've been using them for a few months now. They work great, but I am noticing stink creeping back. My regular daytime diapers don't smell, only the night time ones. Is it just because they are in them for so long? Or could it be because I don't sun them? It takes so much longer for the night time inserts to dry-- and it's very humid all the time which makes it take longer I swear.... To make sure they get dry, i have drying them in the dryer with the wipes. It's annoying to be sure. But it's not so bad that I would resort to sposies yet.

Well, it wasn't my goal to write a novel... If you got this far, thanks for reading. Smile

My night diapers (pockets) do smell in the morning. Not enough to burn my nose, but definitely still stink. Doesn't affect Aiden any and he doesn't seem to care one bit. I tried stripping them, but nothing different happened. I think it's just the concentrated pee in them.

That's great that she's looking into bamboo for the Sunbabies! All of my pockets use bamboo now. Smile

I still haven't tried bamboo. I do love bamboo nursing pads though so I bet bamboo inserts are awesome! We have one all cotton (?) insert that is the Pocket Change brand. It was a random find on DS that I got along with a hemp flat that I use as an insert. Both work really well and are my go to inserts when we will be out of the house and have to go longer between changes. I also love my babykicks hemp inserts. We still actually use a fair amount of the MF inserts. I think we have avoided some of the stink issues b/c we don't use cloth at night.

I would guess that your overnight diapers are a little harder to clean since there are more layers of fabric. I would suspect that sunning could help with stink issues. I'm not ready for it to be 100 degrees again but I do miss the summer sun on my diapers. I've got some stains that could really use some strong sun.

Can I just say how awesome you are for nursing your twins for a year?! (Again?) Biggrin

I'm so glad you mentioned this. Other than an issue from when I switched detergents once last summer I didn't have any issues as long as I was sunning my diapers. And since October (the last time I was able to sun diapers!!!) I have had more stink issues. Not to mention a lot more stains. Blum 3 It's not that they're all that horrible, but it is noticeable in the pail! Never occurred to me that sunning could be one of the reasons. Man, can't wait to move so I can start line drying again!!!

I have also had my first run in with stink issues lately and I can almost guarantee it's the fact that I haven't been sunning. It's actually the fleece in my pockets that is holding it in, not my inserts. I have used Bac Out and that has helped but I need to try sunning them on the days we have sun. I know it may not be as effective as it is in the summer but I still think it would do them some good. We've had so many cloudy days! In fact, the weather man commented last night about our lack of sun lately but I think it's supposed to be getting better. In fact.... the sun is out right now and my diapers are drying in the dining room. Oops.

If our "patio" wasn't off the side of the interstate here I'd totally find some way to rig up diapers to sun outside. I should add this to my list of requirements for a house in NC - must have sunny spot where I can sun diapers!!! Blum 3
