STINKIES????

I use sunbabies, and LOVE them. My daughter is 15 months old and we have NEVER had any problems until now?! The inserts smell musty like? I have soaked them, sunned them, used vinegar and baking soda soak... tried hot water and dawn. I'm at a loss here?! They make her red too whenever she wears them? please someone help!!! these sposies are costing me a fortune!

Have you tried bleach?

Boil the inserts. And for the pocket shells I might try a bit of bleach like Erin said. Usually I go with other stuff first, but seems like you've tried a lot! Sad

ETA: Have you only ever used their sun baby inserts? So they've been in a constant cycle for a year or so? If so it might have reached the lifetime of the microfiber inserts. I don't have any microfiber right now, but I've read quite a few people found they had to replace their micofiber at some point because it just wasn't soaking up as much and were getting really flat and dingy.

yeah I only have their inserts, I was starting to wonder if I just need to buy some new... the diapers themselves don't stink it's just the inserts... what kind do you ladies use? I have two hemp? I think? they are really flat.. but it seems that they leak more?

Hemp inserts/doublers are not good by themselves. They're very slow to absorb. They're more like a good backup to another faster absorbing insert when you need that extra capacity. They absorb a lot though! I have tons of alva and kawaii bamboo inserts (and some have done well for over 18 months now). I usually do 2 bamboo or 1 bamboo with a hemp under it in my day pockets. Bamboo absorbs faster than hemp, but a bit slower than microfiber. Hemp and bamboo also take a lot of prepping to bring up to their full potential. On the flip side, microfiber holds the least but absorbs the fastest. It doesn't require prepping beyond a wash and is cheaper. HTHs. Smile

I read to do 5-6 HOT washes w/out detergent and it WORKED so far it seems! I opened the washer during a cycle and saw soap bubbles in there so I'm thinking maybe a build up.... I'm gonna invest in a few more inserts though of different types soon.

Jackie~ I see in your siggie your going for a VBAC!!! Congrats to you Smile I've had 2 successful vbac's so far and going for a 3rd!!

You can boil for 5-10 minutes too for getting rid of bubbles and buildup. I tend to forget about diapers these days in the washer though. Ha ha.

Thanks! I love knowing others who have had great VBACs! I'm sooo ready, but well she obviously isn't yet since I'm still here waiting (40 weeks tomorrow). Lol
