They're here!--Now with action pics

So it's been 2 weeks since I ordered my Sunbaby diapers. They just arrived! I am so excited to try them out on my little ones. They are in the wash now. I'll take some action shots once I get the chance. I did take a picture of all of them before putting them onto wash. As I'm typing this I am uploading the picture from my camera onto my computer. (I'm on an iPad at the moment) Once I can get it onto photo bucket, I'll post it here. I have a feeling it will be time to nurse before I am able to finish. I do want to say that the diapers feel like they are high quality. The micro fleece is comparable to my RaR. So very, very soft. I'm excited! Okay, let me work on the pic.

ETA pic:

All of this for only $60. Tax was included and there were no shipping charges. Look at those cute prints. Smile

I know that she has an eBay account, although she doesn't have any listings right now. You might be able to contact her and ask for only 6. I read on a forum somewhere that they emailed and asked to purchase them without inserts and that she did it. It's worth a shot.

lol

So we had a leak. But I think it's my fault. I was thinking the diaper might have been too tight around Aiden's waist. so I loosened it. When he peed it came out at his back. So this time I went tighter. He had a major poopy in the first one too... Poopy stayed in. Smile

And Mandi- I'm excited to find out what you're having!

That's awesome! Cause I was thinking that I might like a few more, but 12 more might be too much.

I think what I'll do is make a list of things I like/don't like/not sure about yet.

Likes:
-Super soft
-Trim between legs
-Hip snaps
(Of course the cute girl prints)

Dislikes:
None yet

Not sure about/why:
-The pocket design/I foresee poopy getting inside, but like that the insert can't slide out of the top
-The snaps/The rise adjustment snaps popped loose when I was trying to pull Aiden's diaper into place. But then again, the waist/hip snaps are tight. I'm thinking it might have been the angle I was pulling at?

Other observations that might be useful:
-The diaper has a larger waist--on the tightest setting, the diaper reaches further around to their backs than any other OS diaper I have. And there are ten waist snaps instead of eight. So for babies with larger waists, this might be a good thing.
-Right now A&A need the hip snap on the tightest setting in the OS fb, and I think they have pretty chunky thighs. They are on the 2nd to tightest in these. So I think that's probably good news for babies with thinner thighs. (there are 4 size settings)

More to come as I continue to figure them out.

Oh yeah-- another obvious like is the cost!

So both babies were in these all day. Besides that one leak with the first diaper, there haven't been any problems. DS just isn't ready for a looser setting is all. They have worked great. Very, very excited mommy here!

And I won an auction for 6 hemp inserts on eBay. I figure that used hemp inserts are just that much more absorbent than new ones I'd be getting. And they were cheaper. I got 6 for like $17.50. Yay! When they get here we will try going cloth at night too.

Oh, and no other snaps tried to come undone. I'll have to pay attention to see if it's a flaw in that one diaper. I'll keep you all posted on that.

Thanks for all the details of how it's going for you! Will keep reading to see if you have any more remarks down the line. Biggrin
I'm sooo debating what to get next. Washing diapers every single day isn't old yet, but it will be soon! lol.

Washing diapers every day never really got "old" to me. I would just find that some days were too busy and I couldn't get it all done in time. I think that if I add 6 more to my stash I can easily go every other day with enough extra to cover laundry time.

They do grow fast, do you think they'd fit a newer baby well? I saw some google results that they did.
Oh and it's $36 for 6 with inserts, not bad!

Further observations:

I have been inspecting them very closely and I see imperfections on a few of them. There are a few snaps on some that aren't as tight fitting as others. And some have some seems that are a little crooked in places. But to my way of thinking, if I was to inspect 12 or more diapers of any brand as closely as I'm inspecting these, I would be bound to find something wrong... And for $5 a piece... I'll buy extra to make up for it, spending less in the process, and really love what I'm getting. I have washed the used ones now. They are still just as soft and no staining.

Speaking of softness, it reminds me of another thing I like about them. The elastic across the back is covered with micro fleece like RaR. The way the pocket is with FB, the elastic is covered with the PUL. I like having the softness against their skin. It just seems to be much more comfortable. And it might be my imagination, but I think their skin is less red and irritated.

On a side note, we are going on 3.5 weeks with no diaper rashes! Smile

$36 for 6 isn't bad at all! Becca, how much were two?

I think they would. Like I said before there is one more tighter hip/leg adjustment that can be used. And the elastic across the back is snug. My little ones might be chunkers now, but they still have small waists. When I took them out of the fb xs, they were still on the tightest setting. And are on the tightest still. And with them being trimmer between the legs I think they will fit a nb better than a fb and RaR OS, (I have both). If I had had these, I might not have needed the other xs diapers I had. Well, I probably would have but only because they were 5 lbs when we came home.

Wow, thanks Danielle. I ordered one of the 3.0's from her ebay store and a 4.0 a long time ago and haven't used them yet. I'm glad they are working out so well for you. My friend just bought a 12 diaper lot for his baby; I 'll have to ask how they are working out for him.

I found the lady at SunBaby to be incredibly responsive and easy to work with. Rather than going through the eBay process, I was just able to tell her what I wanted in an email and she charged my paypal account accordingly.

Definitely something wrong with the rise snaps on that one blue diaper. DH just hollered at me to come help put on the diaper because they kept popping loose. I had to do the hip and waist snaps before the rise. Once they were all snapped it was all good. If i owned a snap press i could fix it. One of them also was short on the micro fleece at the leg openings and across the top. I took pictures so I'll post one to show you what I mean later.

Now that I have decided to get a few more, I am going to email her the pictures of the one and tell her about the snaps on the other. I'm hoping she will send me a replacement for the one that was cut wrong if she does, she can send it with my new order.

Glad most of them seem to be working out overall, hopefully she'll replace the weird one. I'm glad someone asked about getting just 6, I was thinking about doing the same thing so its good to know she'll do it.

Hopefully she'll replace that one, it definitely doesn't look quite right, maybe you should take a picture of it next to one of the other diapers too so she can see the inconsistency?
I agree, I want to know how much the 2 were too. I haven't ordered yet, I want to but there aren't as many boy prints I like as girls and now that we know we're having a boy ( Yahoo ) I am probably going to order more of the Kawaiis since they have more boy prints I like, but I still want to try the Sunbaby diapers too, you never know when they'll get new prints Wink

Bumping this up to get more thoughts Biggrin How is everyone liking these diapers?

I keep wanting to make an order but keep changing my mind as to how to 'complete' our stash. I had previously wanted to do mostly Kawaii because I like their boy prints better but after a good old google search it seems Sunbaby plans to release more prints next month, so... now I'm thinking I might go with all Sunbaby and Smartipants. I just got some new Kawaii and I love the overnights but the heavy-duty is just okay. Plus I was going to order the Kawaii Pure and Naturals so they'd fit a newborn and then some print diapers but I think the Sunbabies will work from the newborn stage on. And I love Smartipants so those are a definite but they don't fit until 10lbs.

I'm still really liking them. I've noticed some slight wearing from drying them in the dryer though, even though I dry on low. My mission this week is to get a rack so I can dry them all in the sun at the same time.

I wish I had known they were coming out with new prints before I ordered these last 6. Boo. Sad If I like them, I might just talk dh into letting me get a few more. I had bought some "sunshine" diapers off of eBay and the elastic is already wearing out. They were in a daily rotation for a month. And then another month in every other day. I figure I'll be able to get maybe three more months out of every 2.5 day rotation.

Just read on their page that she's having her 2nd baby on May 12. So from May 8-18 they won't be shipping out any orders.

I got 3 from DS and they're super cute! The hip snaps are different than my other two-row dipes b/c the snap isn't as far towards the front of the dipe so it does make it slightly harder to snap, but not that bad. We've only worn them once a piece though so of course know nothing about how they do long term.

Still more cute girl prints if you ask me but there are a few cute boy prints, enough to get me to order at least. She's out on leave so they won't be shipped until later next week but I think I'm finally ready to order!

Mine just showed up Monday! We started trying them out today, and so far so good. Isaac had a sticky messy peanut butter-type poop in one this morning, and it contained it all and was quite easy to spray off. They are crazy soft too! I'm very hopeful that they'll work out well for us Smile

Update on ours: They are leaving slight leg and waist marks but still liking them and like how soft they are inside. However, all of mine are prints and strangely enough I tend to like solids better so they are the last ones I reach for.

Mine arrived today! I already washed and dried them and Bennett is wearing one. I love them so far, just need to see how they hold up now. Bennett hasn't pooped since last Monday, so it should be a good test when he does poop! I'll share pictures soon. Smile

I just bought 12 more  I couldn't just pick 6... When I told DH that I wanted to buy more he just said to do it then. No arguing or questions asked. Smile Besides, he prefers using the Sunbaby diapers over most of the others. I really am done for a while now. I have enough to do diaper laundry every three days now.

I just got mine yesterday! They're awesome so far! So cute and soft...and I like that they're not just soft to touch but also squishy--way less bulky than PFs or our fitteds. I know lots of babies are early crawlers in cloth, but I do think that if a baby is inclined to be on the slow side, bulky cloth diapers can add to the problem--anyway, I've noticed Adair is a lot more physically active when she is naked or in a disposable--so I think these are going to be awesome all around! If they hold up for us in terms of not leaking, etc., I might just buy one more batch and call it my whole stash...we'll see!

Oh, and they're totally adorable, too Smile My only very minor complaint is that they smell a little bit plasticky, but I'm sure that will wash out/fade pretty quickly.

I washed mine about 5 times before the smell came out the first time. With the second batch I washed them three times I think... Then sunned them dry.

I just got my new order in. I LOVE them! Smile all of the snaps are fitting so much better now. They must have fixed the machine or are using a new type of snap. Whatever they did they work better. I am so glad I decided to try these. It makes cd so much easier for me. I never could have afforded this many fb.

I am going to have to bite the bullet and order some of these. You ladies have sold me, for sure!! Has anyone tried them on a newborn? DD was 7lbs even when she was born and I know that's the starting weight for these diapers, so I'm curious to see how they've worked for a newbie. Now I just need to decide if I want to dive right in and order the 12 or email and ask for just six. Decisions, decisions. Wink

we've had Sunbaby for about a year now. They are fantastic. not had any problems ecxcept they only last a few hours before the wee leaks. BUt thats ok, cause ir's nicer for her to have them changed every couple of hours. It was an accident ordering them. We wanted more as we already had 10 of another brand, but ordered these instead. They sit so well on her. And still look brand new, which is more than I can say for my friend Bum Genius's
