    Default Quick and easy meals

Question: What is your quickest, easiest meal? Okay, it isn't necessarily a "frugal" question, though you could answer with your cheapest easy/quick meal.

I always keep a can of refried beans on the shelf and a package of whole-wheat tortilla shells in the fridge. Add a little cheddar cheese and microwave it, and you have a bean burrito. Quick, easy, healthy and cheap. Our quick fruit/vegetable is usually sliced apples.

pizza and salad - we keep a tube of refrigerated dough, sauce and cheese on hand at all times. Not the healthiest I guess, but I figure it's not too bad if we are making it ourselves.

For fruit - banana is usually the one we always have on hand, but apples are a close second. Veggies - salad, canned corn, or steamed carrots are the easiest for me.

Veggie pie, Frozen veg, puf pastry, white sauce and some bacon if you wish. I also add garlic. Cook the veg, make the white sauce put in the puff pastry in a pie dish and bake until golden.

A chicken taco kind of a thing... shredded chicken, corn, black beans, and seasoning. Diced tomato and shredded cheese on top is optional. DH and I like it in a tortilla, DD usually just eats the filling. Quick, easy, cheap, and yummy!

What kind of white sauce? Do you use from a can or make your own?

I make my own white sauce. I make a roux with butter and flour, then add milk and whisk/stir until it thickens. It has to be stirred constantly to stop lumps. It's really easy. You can add cheese if you want.
