Default Surprising & Fairly Cheap Cleaning & Fixing Tips

    Baby Oil as Chrome Polish

Forget keeping skin soft, baby oil also polishes chrome. Apply a dab to a cotton cloth and use it to shine everything from faucets to hubcaps. You'll end up with shiny, happy surfaces from a medicine-cabinet staple.

    Broom Duster
To dust crown moldings, place a microfiber rag over the broom's bristles and secure with a rubber band. Then use the long handle to dust areas that your arms can't reach. Plus this is good for all your dusting you can wash the rag!

    Rice as Coffee Grinder Cleaner

Mill a handful of grains in your grinder and the fine particles will absorb stale odors and clean out residual grounds and oil. Discard the rice and wipe clean.

    Toothpaste as CD Cleaner
To restore a damaged CD, apply a dot of non-gel formulat toothpaste to a cotton cloth and rub in a straight line from the center of the CD outward, covering any scratches. Rinse off the toothpaste with water.

When you get your last kid potty trained, the leftover wipes are great for cleaning fingerprints off walls and doors.

Alcohol based hand sanitizer rubbed into ink stains before your wash your laundry to wash away the ink.

Here are a couple of my favorites:

    White Vinegar:
Freshen toilet bowl - pour about 2 cups, let sit for a few hours, then scrub and flush (for a little more oomph you can add 1 part baking soda and 4 parts vinegar)

Laundry - add 1/4 cup to rinse cycle to help rinse out detergent and soften clothes while reducing static cling

    Olive oil:
Furniture polish - mix 2 parts oil to 1 part lemon juice

Is a good disinfectant. I add to my wash cycle when doing a load of work clothes (hospital scrubs).
