To use or not to use CFL bulbs
I would love to hear some opinions on CFL bulbs (I laugh when I see "CFL" as I am canadian and our football league is the CFL, and I picture lightbulbs the shape of footballs)
I have heard horrible things about CFL bulbs and I would love to get your take on them.
Things I have heard:
1. They contain mercury and if they break, you get potentially dangerous mercury vapors in the air (bad for a baby's room). Also you shouldn't throw them in the regular garbage because of this (don't know where to take them!)
2. They only save money if you leave them on for extended periods of time as in a business setting and in the home they save virtually nothing but cost a lot more. Also those of us in cold winter climates lose the extra heat that the regular bulbs give off and increases our gas usage.
3. The making and selling of them is government "trickery" making us believe they are better because they are somehow tied to the sales of these bulbs (far fetched I think but the government is sketchy at the best of times LOL)
