Glad to hear everything is going well for everyone.
RITA....CONGRATS ON THE BABY GIRL! How very exciting!
MELISSA.....CONGRATS ON THE NEW HOUSE! How great for you! Now you'll have tons of room for that sweet baby!
Just wanted to let all of you know that baby is doing well. We heard the heartbeat at our appt on the 19th, 154 beats per minute.
Two problems with me, though. Apparently I've gained 10 lbs (not sure if I believe that because my pants aren't feeling that tight and people have told me that I look like I lost weight). Regardless, I have to be more careful there. The other item is that my blood pressure was 140 / 70, which is high for me. The top number is always in the 115-120 range, so while the dr isn't panicking yet, she said we are definitely going to have to watch it. So I will more closely monitor my sodium and up my water intake and start exercising more to see if that works to bring it down. I'm going to check my blood pressure on my own once a week as well.
The last item is that dr and I have both agreed that I should be tested for gestational diabetes early on, instead of waiting til I'm 28 weeks. I have some high risk factors, most importantly being my mom and maternal grandmother both have type 2 and it's also on my dad's side. We agree it's better to be safe and if there is a sign of GD, catching it early is best.
My next appt is March 20th and I scheduled my Level 2 ultrasound for March 29th. Only 5 weeks til we know if we're having a boy or a girl (hopefully our baby won't be shy!!)
Jen, congrats on hearing your baby's h/b! That is one of the most wonderful sounds in the world! Sorry about your bp and weight gain- it's very possible the 2 are connected though, since elevated bp can cause water retention, which would make your weight a bit higher. Noticed any swelling in your hands and feet? Try eating lots of garlic, since it is supposed to help with high bp. You can just add extra to your regular recipes, or buy some garlic pills![]()
