Activities this Summer

So, I did something I might regret and I signed Luke up for immersion Spanish classes. I thought it might be a good experience for him while we are still living in Dallas, and also I am not happy with his current daycare situation, but we are about to move anyway. I met his teacher Lourdes (and I have decided I love that name...) and I hope it will go well. Then every day after 6 hours of Spanish I will be taking him to swimming lessons at the Y. I am hoping to get a workout in, nothing vigorous if I am still pregnant.

We are going to Europe in August for a whirlwind tour of Rome, Athens, Istanbul and a few other places. We are taking a cruise for some of the trip so we can get some babysitting during dinners and such. We scheduled that before we learned if I was pregnant to help me destress about the whole infertility thing. And, also, if I wasn't pregnant I would have many mornings of espresso drinking and many evenings of fabulous wine to look forward to. Hopefully the pregnancy will progress well and we will just have to buy some bottles of wine to enjoy once it is all over. P.S. We saved miles for 10 years to get 3 free tickets to Rome.

When I start my job on September 4th, we will be out of money. That is for sure. I am not even sure that DH gets to keep his job with the move, though it is possible. Oh well, I am just happy to be moving on from the schooling/residency part of life.

What are your plans this summer? Anyone else doing day camps or trips? Just going to lounge at home?

wow that all sounds very exciting.

We are trying to move house this summer. We have seen 2 houses we like but our house hasn't had any offers on ours yet. (although it has only been on the market 3 weeks)

We have to sell our condo as well. We are definitely going to end up selling it for less than what we bought it for, that is just the market. But if we had paid rent this whole time we would be out a lot more so I am ok with that. If I had posted about the last two summers it would have just been about working the entire time.

That trip sounds amazing Tiffany!
As for us, we plan on visiting Niagara Falls with Hunter at the end of July. Marinland, the zoo, and for DH and I, Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson in Toronto.
I will also visit my parents camping (they just bought a new fifthwheel) and relax as well since I am pregnant... but of course, I will be at parks everyday with my Hunter enjoying summer (I don't work during summer).

We planned our trip before IVF so that if it didn't work, we would have something to look forward to... and also to take my mind off all the stress of that. I think it helped. Also, I know I won't be taking a trip for 6 months to a year after starting the new job. I am sure it sounds very luxurious, and it is.

I am somewhat worried, because I realized just now that it will be putting DS through a lot of transitions. He seems pretty resilient and I hope it will all go well. In retrospect, I can't believe I signed up my three year old for immersion spanish. It might not go well.

Cirque de Soleil sounds soooo fun. We really would like to go to Vegas sometime to see a cirque show. It is already too hot to camp in Texas, though we did get to do that for a couple weekends in March.

And this is the only summer in my life I don't have to work, so we are making it count.

We would also love to go to Niagara.

Vicky - how long are you in Toronto for?? It would be great if we can meet up at a park or something for a couple of hours! And how is it possible that i didn't know that Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson is in TO!?!? i need to go look that up! LOL.

Omg, I am totally jealous of your summer! Sounds like a busy, yet super fun one!

We don't have too many plans. We're hopefully closing on our house the end of June. We are so excited to finally be homeowners. We have a wedding in July in MN to go to. We're hoping to get some camping in here and there. Other than that, just settling into our new house.

That sounds like an amazing trip! I hope the Spanish classes go well and that Luke enjoys them and learns a lot.

We are putting the older two in soccer once a week like we did last summer. They loved it and it let's them get some energy out. We're also planning for them both to take swimming lessons once a week. We're talking about a weekend at Great Wolf Lodge and DH and I are going somewhere in July for our anniversary. We haven't decided on a destination yet.
