Luke is potty trained!!!

So I had this past week off work so we decided to just go for it. And the kicker is, it wasn't that hard!!!! Much easier than with Bryce. He is totally dry throughout the day and during nap time... no problems pooping in the potty either. He still wears a diaper at night because he doesn't always stay dry, but this is ok. We bought those little dum dum lolly pops which he LOVES and everytime he goes, he gets one.... I know its not the best choice as far as reward but he is a stubborn kid so we had to choose something we knew we could bribe with!

The thing is, he won't wear underwear. I got him some cool Thomas ones and he wants nothing to do with them. He won't wear a pull up either, which I am not a fan of anyways because its basically a diaper. So he has been naked for the past week. Biggrin

That is GREAT!!!! Jakey too won't wear underwear - or not so much that he won't wear them but he pees in them - i think when he's all 'snug' in there he thinks its a diaper LOL. We are still working on poo here BLAH!

Congrats Luke! Lol Liberty likes to be naked, too... although I don't have any issues with putting panties on her or a pull up at night.

WTG Luke!! That's awesome! Glad it was so easy! We ran out of pull ups for Kate and decided not to buy anymore. She's been in undies since waking from naptime yesterday. diaper for naps and bedtime. Only 2 accidents so far...skittles reward. Smile The only thing is she pees every 45 minutes! I have to tell her when to go. I've tried waiting and hour but she pees at 45 min. Is that how often Luke goes? Are you telling him to go or does he tell you? She told me once today, but she said, "I need to go potty so I can get candy."

Beth- Its so amazing because I had gotten advice from a girl at work who had read a book about potty training boot camp and how you're supposed to remind them ALL the time to go potty... so I was thinking "crap, I can't even remember to go potty all the time, how on earth can I remember to remind Luke every 5 minutes to go potty??" But it didn't end up being that bad at all. I do ask occasionally, but after day 3 or 4 I was finding he was going potty all by himself. I wasn't having to remind him everytime. Sometimes when I ask him if he needs to go he will say "OH!" and he will run and go. I also noticed at the beginning, he was only peeing a tiny amount at a time, but very often... as opposed to big pee's less often and as time went on, he has I guess learned to empty his bladder in one sitting. He also amazes me and does not ask for a sucker all the time when he does go. So I think if she's going every 45 minutes, then thats OK if she's not emptying her bladder all the way... I think Luke didn't realize that he had more in him to go. If that makes any sense. Kate is smart apparently and knows how to manipulate the system Biggrin Or maybe she really just doesn't realize yet that she can go more. I did a few times go in with Luke and when I noticed there was just a few drops, I would say "do you need to go potty more??" and he would sit back down and go quite a bit more... maybe you could try that!

That's awesome. I bet you are relieved to have that over with...I know I will be!

Kate is pretty manipulative. Smile She pees a little and then says, "I'm all done, I get my candy!" I always ask her if she got "all of the tee tee out" and the answer is always yes. She only had one accident today. I have been taking her every hour. I think she's learning to hold it a little bit longer or maybe that day of 45 minutes was a fluke. She only had 2 accidents that day, so not bad. She hasn't pooped in the potty yet though. But at least she comes and tells me she went in her undies, unlike Hayden, who would hide under the table. I can't wait to have this behind me and take a break from it all for about, oh, 2 years. *sigh*

Beth- I think you're doing a great job. I know many have had problems with pooping in the potty. And we're def not out of the woods yet here... we still put a diaper on when we go out and at night... Still can't get him to wear underwear.... but I wasn't even going to attempt to potty train until he was 3 unless he wanted to. But DH convinced me he was ready and he was right! I didn't think he was because of his verbal communication, but he's done very well. I think if she's going every hour and having very few accidents, then that's ok to reward her... eventually you might have to put your foot down and not reward her everytime, or maybe reward her at the end of the day if she does well all day. Luke would not understand this, but maybe Kate would.
