No more diapers! Update first post

We're going to stop putting a diaper on Ryken during the night. He's been waking up dry and hasn't been wearing a diaper for naps for the past couple days. I'm actually a little bit surprised it hasn't been too hard to PT. I was dreading it, but only the first couple days were stressful. He's pooped in the potty twice now. Tonight and 2 nights ago, last night he had a poo accident but I think he had an upset stomach so it freaked him out a little. I'm so proud of him!

Update: He peed through when we left him in his underwear at night. I'm guessing he did it when he woke up. He usually wakes up dry, so I'm not sure what happened. We're going to keep a diaper on him at night for a while longer I think. I'm just super happy that he is now pee and poop trained and doesn't wear a diaper at all during the day (even naps!). YAY!

Okay, you are inspiring me! I want to go "cold turkey" this weekend, but my LO has no interest in the potty. I mean, he knows what he's supposed to do, but he doesn't like it.

Did yours WANT to go to the potty?

Um, not exactly. We've tried a couple times in the past so he knew how to and wasn't afraid or anything. We bribed him with skittles. The skittles only lasted a couple days and now he just goes when he needs to, and I also remind him if he gets too involved in playing or watching tv. We first did underwear only when he was awake and diapers during nap and night. Then we cut out diapers at nap after he got the peeing down. Tonight will be the first night without a diaper.

Did you get the manual that Veronica was sending to a bunch of us a while ago? I didn't totally follow it, but just reading through it made up my mind to train him now and get it over with. I can forward it to you if you want to pm me your e-mail address.

Thats great!! Dalton is doing really good and has been out of diapers for a week or 2 now other than bedtime. He still isn't waking up dry, but they both drink a ton of water and milk and I just can't tell them no. Gavin is being very stubborn though. He knows what to do and has done it several times, but still fights going potty.

Yay! I totally recommend the cold turkey approach...with a special bribe Wink we used mini chocolate chip cookies. It's only messy and frustrating for the first day or two. GL!

Maybe he did pee when he woke up?... anyways I'm all for a diaper at night!! It's one diaper a day....what a difference right?;)
I soo happy for you it went fast!
Hunter is trained for pee and poo now too!! But will wear a diaper at night for a long time still because he is still having milk before bed... I have to cut that habit but one thing at a time....
Yay to go Ryken!:yahoo:

Just keep putting a nappy on at night. Like Vicki said it's only one a day. I was expecting to have Alexander in nappies for ages at night yet but he was dry for over a month in the morning. He doesn't get fluids for about 2 hours before bed though

Well, we had PT Day 1 yesterday, and wow...exhausting! He didn't use the potty at all, though he would sit on it. In fact, many times he sat on the toilet for a long time, and, as soon as he left the bathroom, peed right on the floor. *ugh*

On to Day 2 today. Hoping for better luck, but he's already had 1 accident this morning, not counting peeing in the bed.

Wow, that's great Katie! Good job Ryken! I think we're going to start over again with Kate on Tuesday. If not then, it will be over a month until we have another chance. I'm very encouraged by all the successes on this board!!

That's great! I kept Liberty in her panties one night last week and she didn't pee at all! But then I jinxed myself by posting to you guys about it and she's peed (gallons!!) the past three nights lol, so we're back to pullups at night. She's got the daytime down pat and even going out places she'll tell me when she has to go... now I don't know what to do at nighttime!

Katie...I am so glad that you inspired me to jump on board with this. My little guy is FINALLY using the potty. He hasn't pooped in it yet, and it took us almost the full 3 days for it to click...but it does seem like it finally clicked halfway through day 3 and he hasn't had any peepee accidents for half a day now. Yay!

That's awesome! I was just going to start a thread asking you how it's been going. I had to (and still have to) stalk Ryken when I think he needs to poop to remind him to go in the potty. Today he pooped on the potty once and then about an hour later when in his underwear in his room. So I guess we're not totally there with the pooping.

That's so good that he's using it at all, though! It seems like that's the biggest challenge that most of the moms on this board are having with potty training. Smile
