Say their names?

Does anyone else's sugarplum refuse to say their name? You would think that she would say it all the time since I know she hears it constantly. I can count the number of times she has said Lily on 1 hand. If you ask her to say her name she will ignore you. And if you ask "Is your name Lily?" she says, "No, I'm me!" Lol

I'm not worried b/c she obviously knows her name. I'm just curious if it's a normal toddler thing, or if maybe it's just b/c Lily is hard for her to say. The few times she's tried it has come out "ee-wee".

Well, things are different for me. Dalton thinks that they are both Dalton. Gavin loves to call for Dalton. It's really cute and sounds more like "Dawdon". But now Dalton is calling Gavin Dalton. He used to say Gavey since I say that alot but now he thinks they are both Dalton. Oh well.

I've gotten Jocelyn to try to say her name maybe three times total, always repeating me. She responds to her name, and like you, I'm unsure why she doesn't say it more often.

When I get her to try to say her brother's name, she says "eee-ya." She knows I'm "Mommy," Brian is "Daddy" and can approximate the names of her daycare providers. So, she gets that people have names, but she doesn't label herself with her name without a ton of prompting

I'd kill for an "No, I'm me!" though. That is a far more complicated thing to put together and say than just her name. You have nothing to worry about!

Alexander can't say his name. He just points to himself if he's talking about himself or if he wants something

Luke has never done it for me... but incredulously he answered that question correctly for a stranger. He also will not state his age.

If you ask Ryken what his name is he won't say it, but he'll label things as his by pointing to them and saying his name.

Claire will say it about half the time. She'll point to a picture of her self and say "That's baby Claire!"

If I ask her if her name is Kaiya she says no. But in the next breath will go through all of her people (mummy, daddy, sister, kitty) and include herself. "I Kaiya! Yay!!!!!" Although at times it still comes out Daiya. She is only willing to say her name on her terms.

Kate will label things as hers like "That's Kate's!" But she pronounces it "Tate." Who knows why since she can say carrots, colors, etc. I tested this after I read the post...I asked her what her name was and she said, "I'm Tate!"

I'm sure it's a normal toddler thing...I think Hayden was doing a similar thing at this age. Kate is well-advanced in her speech, probably more on the level of a 3 year old at this point. They are all over the map at this age, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Makenna can say her name, although it sounds like "Tena". She does respond to her name so i am not too worried. She's kinda funny when she's looking at pictures she can name the people in the picture " mommy, daddy, baby you"!! I think that's out fault though because when we label the pictures we would tell makenna "that's you".

I know Lily can say the "k" sound as well, but instead of "okay" she always says "o-tay!" Smile Must be a toddler thing!

LOL that's cute! When Lily sees pictures of herself as a baby she always says "that's Woocas!" I guess b/c they look so much alike as babies? Then when I say, "no, that's baby Lily!" she says just says "uh-huh!"

Lol Liberty refuses to say her name! I'll ask her who she is or what her name is and all she ever says is, "I'm the baby!" I'm expecting again and she won't be able to say that for very much longer, so I've really been trying with her but it's to no avail... I think it's like potty training... they'll just do it when they're ready to!
