Update on Alexander

He went to speech therapy today and the therapist was SO happy with him now that he's been signed off Yahoo I can't believe how well he's done in such a short space of time. He doesn't seem like the same boy who was only saying 5 words 6 months ago. She said he's up to level with children his age and his pronunciation should come as his speech develops but if he's not understood by strangers by the time he's 4 we can take him back but she was pretty sure he won't need to Biggrin I'm so proud of him!!

Other news...Tobey might be referred to a ped next month as he's not pulling up or crawling. If he's not doing it by his next appointment at 13 months then he's going to get tested for genetic disorders and have physical therapy. I've been told there could be something wrong with his thigh muscles. Or I could just be lucky and he's lazy, which is seeming less likely as he's trying so hard to move but just can't. He spends a lot of his time being frustrated and crying, I feel so sorry for him Sad

Thanks for the update, Sarah.

I'm sorry to hear that things are a bit stressful with Tobey. Elliott met his gross motor stone milestones later than Jocelyn, and he is just a less physical kid all around. His gross motor skills are late but still in the normal range, but his fine motor skills (and especially his self feeding/self help skills) are off the charts behind so he's in OT for that now. He is also in ST because his language is delayed as well. I was really worried that he had mild cerebral palsy (he holds his thumbs in, favors his right hand early), but his ped said that was not the case, thankfully. At this point, it just looks like a delay and some sensory food aversions.

Please keep up posted.

actually Tobey pulled himself up yesterday, I breathed a HUGE sigh of relief. He's only done it the once though. He also crawled backwards last week, which he has also only done once. He was sitting up at the same time as Alexander so I thought he'd do everything else the same but most of his gross motor is about 3-4 months behind. I don't expect him to crawl (he screams when he's in any kind of crawling position) and I really don't expect him to walk much before 18 months. I just feel like at least I know he CAN pull up and he CAN crawl, he just doesn't want to

That is fantastic news about Alexander's speech! Some babies (especially boys Wink ) can be a little on the lazy side lol. I hope this is the case with Tobey, sounds like it! LOL.
