How does daycare lose a sippy cup?

This is a stupid vent, but I have to let it out. DH packs the girls' bag for daycare everyday. We pack a sippy of milk and a sippy of juice for each girl. They have different cups (they both ended up liking a different type of cup...go figure), so our supply is limited. Keira has 4 cups, that is it. So, on Monday, DH asked me if Keira's cup of juice came home from daycare. I had not unpacked the bag yet, so obviously, it did not make it home. We counted cups, searched the house, and have yet to find it.

Yesterday, I mentioned to daycare that we cannot find the cup and asked if it was still there. Nope, they have not seen it. Now, Keira has not been anywhere since Monday. We have not gone to a restuarant or anything. So, it is either at home or daycare. I told them today which cup was missing. They still haven't seen it. I asked if they might have sent it with another child. They insist that the cups stay with the girls' bag, so there is no way it was sent home with someone else on accident. UMMMM....then where is the cup? Huh? GRRRRR! Now, I have to go buy more cups. It is not like they are super expensive, but $6 for two adds up, ya know, especially with twins! Plus, Walmart was out of those cups on Sunday. I tried to buy Keira more cups then. Sigh! Sad

Oh, and the girls' cups are marked with their names, so you would think another parent would return the cup if they found it, right?

They found the cup! Whew! Apparently, it ended up in a toy bin. They rotate toys, so it was in the bin they used on Monday. Like I said, it was something really minor, but I just had to vent a little. A sippy cup isn't a big deal. It is not like it was a security object or anything.

Which reminds me, I need to get myself organized and try to figure out what to put in the cribs with the girls that they might latch onto. DS had a stuffed duck that he slept with every night. Luckily, he did not carry it everywhere. We had two and we could wash it every few weeks, and we had a backup in case of an emergency.

Glad they found it!! I'd be a little irritated too, we have a lot of cups but we always seem to run out anyways. I know the difference one cup can make! Do they take the Playtex cups? Target just had a sale on them but I know they do go on sale fairly often, and I think BabysRUs just sent some coupons for them...I'll have to check

Glad they found it! Daycare has missed sending things home before and I find it annoying too so vent away!

It is really a minor annoyance, but I hate it when daycare loses things. It is not often, so at least that is good.

Sarafina uses Playtex cups. She has 6 cups though, so she doesn't need more cups yet. Keira has 4 of the First Years cups (Disney Fairies and Minnie Mouse/Daisy Duck). She needs two more, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy her the orange and blue Mickey Mouse cups last weekend. I should just suck it up. It isn't like she will know the difference. Smile

I'd be the same way Wink Josiah uses the Playtex cups and there have been times I've wanted to get more and all they had was girly ones left and so I don't end up buying them. He'll actually take the cheap 'take and toss' cups too but they leak pretty badly and if he's determined enough he can get the covers off so those are a grandma's house cup Lol

I actually prefer the Take and Toss cups, but as you said, they leak like mad. Those are definitely travel cups or cups we use in desperation. Those are not our everyday cups. Smile

Why is it we get so gender-oriented? I always tell myself that I won't do it, and yet I have with all of my kids. Isaiah had boy things, even toys. The girls have a lot of his toys, so that is good. However, when I buy them toys I get purple or pink cars, and such. Why do I do that? What does it matter if they have a blue or red car, really? Lol

IDK but I do the same thing LOL Biggrin
I even try to buy some gender-neutral stuff so that if #2 ends up being a boy, he won't have to play with all "girly" stuff!

I don't blame you for being upset. As much as I loved the teachers at Sophia's old daycare, they were awful with keeping track of her things. They lost her jacket (twice), a sheet and blanket (never recovered), a sippy cup, a pair of shoes (never recovered), and 2 packs of diapers (never recovered).
The last time something went missing I hit the roof. I just don't understand how you can lose so much stuff. Blah.

I'm glad they found it though.

I would have been pissed off too if it happened to me. And yeah it may not be a big deal to some but when you have twins stuff adds up when they need something and losing a cup is just adding another expense that wasn't really needed. Glad they found it tho.
