Ugh, I am at my wits end. Austin was taking five 6oz bottles every 3-4 hours like clockwork. Then, about a week ago he started getting really distracted at almost every feeding. He would act really hungry and start sucking on the nipple pretty rigorously and then slow down, bite down on the nipple, push it to the side of his mouth, etc. We would feed him in a quiet, dark room just to see if big brother or the TV was distracting him, and he still was doing the same things. He has started eating less and less. He will now only eat about 2-3 oz at each feeding. He went from eating 30oz a day to 12oz. I called the pediatrician's office today and spoke to a nurse. She said that as long as he is stil having plenty of wet and poopy diapers and isn't losing weight, not to worry. That's really hard to not worry and wonder what is causing him to not eat. He isn't running a fever, isn't congested... I think he could be teething but would that cause him to not eat? I tried feeding him a bottle before bed and he took it at first and then pushed it to the side, arched his back, and cried. Any ideas on what could be causing the problem? Because he isn't eating well, he also isn't sleeping well. He was up 4 times last night and I am EXHAUSTED. I just don't know what else to do.
