Doing well with Doc band

I am so impressed with how Tigh is adjusting to his Doc band helmet. He is sleeping normally, playing normally and doesn't seem to miss a beat in his growth and development with the helmet on. He even started taking steps in the past week and is not looking back! It really surprised me how easy it has been to include the helmet into our routine. We just have to ensure his head stays dry of sweat, clean the helmet each night and make time for 15 minute weekly/biweekly follow ups. I included some pictures to show just how "normal" Tigh is with the helmet. (If you call "normal" being a wild animal! oh I love him!)

I remember klub07 said Kamden was getting a helmet in early Oct - how is he adjusting? I hope he is doing great and I am interested to hear his/your story. Smile

I am so glad to hear he is adjusting well! Ryan seemed to have 1 rough night of sleep, and was good after that! The helmet started to smell a little funky towards the end of it but his head sweats a LOT still to this day. Smile I love all of the pictures. You are right - doesn't seem to phase Tigh one bit! He is such a cutie!!

So he has to wear it 24/7 except baths and cleaning? How long does head reshaping usually take?

He touches it when we first put it back on from taking it off, but after 30 seconds he is right back into whatever he was doing before. We were super afraid he would undo the velcro - so far so good.

He will wear it for 3-4 months 23 hours a day. We take it off 1 hour before his bath-time so then once he takes his bath, we blow-dry his hair on cool setting and put the helmet right back on. While its off we clean it with rubbing alcohol (the only thing we are allowed to clean the inside of it with) and let it dry.

I seem to remember buying scented rubbing alcohol to help with the smell towards the end of the 3 month time period. I think we bought it at Sally's and they had a few different scents. Just thought I would mention it in case you get tired of the smell. You will know what I'm talking about in a while. Smile
