Yeah, it's nuts. My dad really wasn't trying to be mean (I can't stay obese like this because I have a bad back) but he -- along with SO many people -- doesn't get it. I hear all the time things like why don't I just pump so I can get out. Ha! Four months in and I haven't an ounce to spare. My daughter can't breastfeed and I put in a huge effort for three months with weekly meetings with lactation consultants and everything, but I still hear, "Why don't you just feed her the regular way? Have you tried again?" Pump, pump, pump. My dad actually thought "lactation consultant" was a joke I made up and not a real professional I was paying $250 to come out to the house. My boyfriend gets it, thank goodness. I mean, he's REALLY good about it. He's always washing pump bits and making sure I have everything ready and he's getting better at telling people when they can/can't come over.
So glad your boyfriend is so supportive, that's awesome! LOL I just realized you produce more calories in breastmilk than I eat altogether when I'm on a diet!!! But yeah, I eat like horse these days. I so wish I was not on my dairy/soy/enjoyment-free diet so I could indulge a bit but I guess it's good because it keeps me from pigging out too much.
Enjoyment free is right! Lol.
I always forget about this thread since its up in the sticky section.
We are moving again in 2 months to Mississippi and I'm trying to figure out what to do with my frozen stash. She still won't take a bottle so giving it isn't much of an option right now and even if it was if have to pump more to keep my supply up. It's only about 50 ounces because I was just trying to get a small stash for returning to work and stopped when I found out we were moving and I wouldn't be going to work here.
I too eat way too much in attempts to keep up my milk supply! I've baked lactation cookies for the past few weeks and I didn't this past week and I noticed an immediate difference! They're so bad for you, but it's like if I don't eat four or five a day my milk goes down again! I don't have a problem keeping him full when I'm BF him but I can't seem to ever pump enough.

As if we enjoy to be hooked up to machines like dairy cows.
I'm glad boyfriend is at least on your side and still washing stuff too! DH was so good about helping me wash bottles, pump parts in beginning...now I'm lucky if he puts his own dishes in the washer. Guess honeymoon phase is over
Lol. Took words right out of my mouth
I feel guilty about dumping leftover milk if sat out too long on counter...the whole liquid gold mentality that was drilled into my brain during birth class. Will you be driving, flying (can't recall where you live now)?
I had to stop making those cookies because I would polish off a whole batch in just a few days because they were one of the few enjoyable things to eat on this ND/NS diet. Once I found ND/NS chocolate chips, I turned into the Cookie Monster.
I was gonna say dry ice too. But I like Krystal's idea of calling an LC!
