Sheila - yikes mastitis again. That was the final push for me to transition to all formula because I couldn't imagine getting sick again and again. I've heard of some people going on antibiotics for longer durations to avoid getting repeated infections. I'm not sure the cabbage is helping but I have only been using about day and half. My boobs still feel pretty full and hurt like they are bruised on the inside. Not too mention they are super lumpy...blech. Not really sure tea was helpful either. I did get some fresh sage and was going to try making my own tea to see if that worked better, so I'll update later.
Elle - glad you were able to reintroduce dairy into your diet and hopefully his frequent wakings are being caused by something else (that will resolve soon hopefully). I started giving DS some baby yogurt every couple days and so far he doesn't seem to be showing signs of intolerance.
I guess the bacterial enzymes in yogurt also help to partially breakdown the protein so it is more easily tolerated by some dairy sensitive kids.
I'll have to dig out some of my peppermint tea as I prefer that flavor to the sage tea. I wonder if they taste okay mixed...off to experiment.
Oh, I've stopped the cabbage leaves for now as I was getting tired of feeling like I had a wilting salad bar in my bra. I will admit the coolness from coming out of fridge gave some relief but it didn't last very long and I think I could get same or better effect with a small cold pack and advil with less cabbage smell. Plus I could never get a whole leaf to tear off so I was laying smaller pieces together like I was doing boob decoupage art Not that I want to discourage anyone from trying this...it was just hard to tell if it was helping with my engorgement.
