2 hr GTT

Had my 2 GTT test today. Had a not so great start since my fasting was 101 and I had been told if it was over 90 it was automatic fail but turns out I just had to sit and wait for them to run my first blood draw in the lab before they would have me drink the stuff and start the 2 hours. Turned out it was 70! Don't ask me why their machine in the phlebotomy room is off by 30. Rest went ok, should find out if I passed at my 28 week appt next Thursday.

Otherwise just trying to catch up on all the threads I missed in the last few weeks while I was busy traveling. Hope everyone else is doing well!

Hopefully, all is well. I am going for mine first thing tomorrow morning. How nasty was that stuff?

I didn't think it was that nasty actually, tasted like orange hi-c that wasn't mixed right and just had too much sugar. Didn't make me feel sick and was easy to drink in the 5 minutes. I do have to admit tho that I have always had a sweet tooth so maybe it just doesn't bother me as much.

I wasn't quite prepared for the little party baby seemed to having after I drank it tho. She was kicking places I didn't think she could reach and so much that I could have sworn there were two in there. lol.

My body is just not used to consuming large quantities of sugar like that, especially on an empty stomach. I'm really hoping it doesn't give me a "hung over" feeling and ruin my whole day.

LOL....I am anticipating this will be the case for me too. She usually squirms around a lot after I eat a little bit of sugar. Smile

Yay for passing the first part. I hope you pass the others Smile

Carrie- The drink tastes like flat orange soda to me. Not the most appetizing but it was manageable. I put mine in a glass with lots of ice to keep it nice and chilly.

That is EXACTLY what happened to me!!

In the lab the machine said I was 101 but when my doc called with my numbers she said I was 75 on that draw? Weird??

I didn't have a 2 hour test, so I'm not sure what that all means! Glad it went well for you though. I should be getting my results next week too.

The drink didn't taste too bad, but it didn't make me feel so great. I felt lightheaded for a couple of hours afterward, and then had a headache and heartburn the rest of the day. Hope that doesn't mean I have GD! The baby seemed to be sedated by the drink... ha. Maybe that was the sugar crash? I had that too. I just wanted to go to sleep a couple hours after consuming it.

I hope you passed! I agree, I didn't think the drink was that bad either.

Well, I just finished my test. The orange stuff could have been worse, the first few sips were ok, but by then end of it, it was sugar overkill. I felt really woozy for the first hour, but by the time the second hour rolled around I felt much better. I guess we'll see what the results are...but first thing's first...FOOD!

hope everything went okay!!!

you should NEVER believe an accu check. they are terrible. they are waaay off at least 10% of the time. that's why they get the official read off a vial.

Which is scary really especially for those who are diabetic and check their sugar at home.

Totally off topic but I am very skeptical of the automatic blood pressure machines. I think they are garbage and too much can interfere.

Hope everything goes well with your test! I took mine last week, and since it only takes 3 days for the results I'm sure I passed, as my office always calls with bad news and ignores you with good lol!

both of these are totally true!!! I think they figure if youre diabtetic and 90% of your reads are "good enough" then that's okay since they follow you with lab blood draws as well.

I had an accucheck tell me that my blood sugar was 350. What if I really was diabetic and decided to inject 8 units of insulin?? I woulda been in a hypoglycemic coma!

Goodluck to all still waiting.

I just did the one hour, and I didn't fast. So glad I don't have to go back and sit there for THREE hours

I did the one hour, failed horribly! 180!!!! I am not too worried though, because I failed miserably with my first also, and did not have it!
