...another 1st appt today :)

I had my 1st appt as well today...pretty uneventful. Just confirmed the pregnancy and checked my cervix and uterus. OB said everything looks right on track. I have an u/s scheduled for 2 weeks from today! My last pregnancy I found out when I was 7 weeks pregnant, so I was able to have the first ultrasound the same day as my first appointment. It's going to be a long 2 weeks for me I think! Smile

Glad to hear everything went well! I hope time passes quickly before your 1st ultrasound.

First appointments are always so boring. I think we should get an ultrasound at every appointment so that you have something to look forward to!

I have no experience apart from my first OB appointment, but it sounds as though most of you don't get an ultrasound by your OB. (I had a vaginal ultrasound done at my first appointment.) Is the usual to have a tech do it and then they send along some information to the doctor? What do they send?

Last time the tech performed the u/s and passed the info along to the doc a few minutes later (she'd look at the screen captures). I imagine the tech would call the doc in if something looked awry...
I was 7 weeks last time around and I didn't need a vaginal u/s...I'm hoping that's the case this time too. I've had a vaginal u/s before and it's not as much fun as the belly variety, IYKWIM!

This is my fourth baby and I never had a vaginal US until this baby. With the other three they just took my word for how far along I thought I was (which I was right on with all three babies) but when I had my OB appt this past Friday she told me she was going to have an US done to make sure of how far along I was (I guess this is just something they do all the time now, as even the US tech seemed shocked that I had never had a vaginal US done before). I went Tuesday for the US and everything was perfect with baby, heart beat was 160 BPM, "she" was kicking and moving around, and I was spot on my due date to the day! Yes, the US tech just puts the info in your chart (assuming baby is doing well, if they see something questionable they usually have the OB come in) for the OB to go over on your next appt. But again, it sounds to me like every OB does things different, so whereas some of us have them early, others might not have them till around the standard 18-20 weeks, when they do all of the important measurements...

Yay for an appt! those two weeks will probably seem like forever but after that it goes faster until your two weeks out from the next u/s. Lol Glad you had a great boring appt!
