Appt- frustrated

Overall had a good appt, baby measuring right on, good heartbeat. I filled out paperwork for c-section . But total weight gained is 45lbs- Dr. not concerned at all as I started out with a bmi of 19 which id the lower end for my height. But approx 9 more weeks of weight gain -- I sure hope I lose it all. Mainly its my belly and in my back I cannot believe I have gained that much!

and... Dr first suggested Dec 27th as c-section date- but now she will be out of town so either we do it on the 22 or 23 or do the 27th but it will be with whoever is on call that day. So after all the discussing with DH and deciding we would go with the Dec 27th date- we are back to deciding what to do. If I go into labor before any of the dates I would go to the hospital for a c-section anyways but it may not be her either. Of I choose the earlier dates- she said possibly get me out for 25th sometime that day. Dh of course says what does it matter it's a Dr who can do the surgery. so she sent in my papers- my next appt is in 3 weeks so we will discuss the available dates.

Oh and my snoring is getting louder and he feels the need t poke me and wake me up during the night- last night was 3 times he woke me up!! arrggggg.

Sorry so long.... feels good to vent a bit lol

I'm glad I'm not the only one in the gaining fast department! I'm almost right up there with you and I didn't start with a low BMI.

That's hard to pick between those dates. If I didn't have DS I would go forth earlier dates I think but with a child at home I wouldn't want to miss Christmas eve. It's awesome that she is letting you decide. I wouldn't have a big problem with another doctor doing the csection, if it was me.

First off, dont worry about your weight gain. There are lots of women that gain 50 lbs or more... it just happens. You'll be able to lose it no problem when baby comes (shoot, you'll lose around 12 lbs just from delivering your baby lol). Second, as far as your c-section date, I agree with your DH and would just go for the 27th. You don't want to be stuck in the hospital on Christmas day. I could understand if you were having a vaginal delivery wanting your original OB, but since you're not, it wouldn't matter at all to me who was doing the cutting. Lastly, if my DH was waking me up from the few precious hours of sleep I was getting per night, I would punch him! Tell you DH if he wants quiet he can go elsewhere, or leave you the hell alone lol!

Sorry about the scheduling mishap. I'm not sure what I would do... But the later date does sound better.

I wouldn't worry about the weight gain... easier said than done as I hate that I have put on so much too, but I just plan to burn it off through breastfeeding and exercise as much as I can when I am done! Bottom line! And the baby is worth it, and you just gain what you need to gain... Besides, I saw your picture and you look great and your belly is still much smaller than mine.

And yea, I have to agree with Krystal about the poking you awake bc of snoring. Tell him to bunk it on the couch if he doesn't like it, or offer him some ear plugs!

I agree w/ all the other pps.

Tell dh to go somewhere else if he doesn't like it. Maybe he would like you to poke him every night when the LO wakes up just to let him know. =/ Grrr. That irks me & it's not even happening to me. lol

Weight? Don't worry about it. I know it's been bothering you this whole time, but you did start off so small & you said you didn't have a problem last time. You still look great!! And even if you didn't you are almost done & it's your body doing what it has to.

I always complain to Ed that I'm so huge & fat. He always tells me, "You're not fat! You are pregnant!" ~~ All of us just need to remember that b/c he is so right.

I guess I am starting to feel stressed- I guess its nice to have another familiar face in the Or besides my Dh. Something about getting to know a Dr the whole time and then someone you don't know come in and do the surgery. And from what I hear about some of the OBgyn on call and not the friendliest scares me- and I think the whole maybe go into labor and having to get the section done in an emergency basis kind of freaks me out. They have a new rule here I guess that they won't do any c-sections before 39 weeks unless emergency. The other 2 were 38 weeks c-sections.
Most likely we will be going with the later date and just go with it- no matter what Dr. I really don't want to miss christmas with the kids so we will chance the going into labor before if that happens. It still would be nice to have my OB there as I am really comfortable with her.

As for weight- Baby needs to grow but I can'b believe the amount of weight I put on. And with 9 weeks to go thats a lot of weight to come. Thanks for the comments on I look great- I guess I am feeling huge now .

As For DH- I might have to punch him if he continues to wake me up- he's welcome to sleep on the couch lol

I hear ya! I am not having a c-section and I will get who is on call when I go into delivery and when I found out I may not be having the same midwife I have been seeing this whole time, it totally stresses me out! I meet the other one tomorrow, so I hope I like her.

And i hear ya on the weight. I am a lot bigger this time around and I have weeks yet to go. It worries me some too, but I decided to quit thinking about it as there isn't anything I can do about it anyway. I am resolved to lose the weight after the baby comes.

And about your DH, thata girl! Wink

Isn't it normal procedure to have who is on call? I have had my ob (same one) w/ both of my girls, but they were both scheduled so that makes sense. But, if I were to just go into labor naturally during a time she isn't in the office, & maybe even when she is in the office I'm not sure, it's my understanding that I will be delivered by whoever is on call in her group.

I met a very mean Asian man last time when I hemorrhaged w/ Violet. He was trying to fist me...literally trying to stick his hand into my uterus to find clots!! WTF?!?!? My ob was awesome tho & came in & gave me my d&c personally even though it was her day off. I can't imagine having that guy delivering my girl, but know it's a possibility.

This is the rule at my hospital too. If I go into labor before then and my OB isn't on call then I get a csection by whoever is there. Unless my OB is on call and then I will VBAC.

Like Julie - I have been concerned about my wight the entire time too and now I just figure there isn't much I can do about it and I will just start over like last time and lose it all with hard work and determination.

Weight? MEH! I am up 28 now. I said I would be happy if I only gained 40, but I am pretty grumpy about being up 28 & still having 10 more weeks.

Many hospitals are starting this rule. My perinatalogist (who was my primary OB with my twins) said that new research is indicating that babies born before 39 weeks via induction or c-section have poorer feeding outcomes (because the suck/swallow reflex is one of the last to develop) and tend to have more instances of apnea and breathing difficulties. I think he mentioned something else related to brain development. Even pregnant with twins, he would not schedule my c-section until 39 weeks. Of course, we know a lot of people who have babies before 39 weeks and they do really well. However, going into labor on your own and induction/scheduled c-sections are two different things. Since a due date is estimated, there is no way to know if baby is truly ready to be born. So, it is a liability issue as well as a way to try to improve infant health and decrease infant mortality rates.
